Hi everyone, I know there are some who hate posts like this but I could really use help so I am risking it Visiting January 9-15th. Need show rec's

I was hoping to see Side Show and am so disappointed it is closing today, bad timing.

What newer shows are must sees? We were in NY in April and saw quite a few shows including Gentlemen's Guide (which we didn't like), Lady Day (loved), Heathers (daughter loved), Matilda, If/Then, Pippin, Violet, Book of Mormon.

I'd like to know which off broadway shows are worth seeing (we like Musicals best), which Broadway shows shouldn't be missed. I feel like there is slim pickings for this trip.

Was thinking about Elephant Man, Its Only a Play, Beautiful, Aladdin (for my daughter), what else are "not to miss".

Thanks so much!

Debra

I'd say Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserable are "can't miss" shows, and Lion king and wicked are also pretty good too. Phantom and Les Mis are more traditional and more dramatic, but Lion King is fun and so is Wicked.

I would definitely go with Aladdin & Beautiful! Other suggestions I'd probably consider are The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Kinky Boots, Les Miserables, On the Town, & You Can't Take It With You. Updated On: 1/3/15 at 06:47 PM

The best play I've seen in quite a while is The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-time. It is, in my opinion, not to be missed. (I tend to me more of a musical person too) The lead does not perform at two performances.....I can't remember which, sorry. I've read here that his understudy is very very good, but Alex Sharp's phenomenal performance is also not to be missed if possible. Have a wonderful trip!

I would also recommend Beautiful.

I would add Constellations to this list. A master class in acting, highly entertaining...and clocks in at just over an hour

I also recommend Curious Incident.
