Hi All,
Would like to make a trip to NYC for my summer vacation. I'd like to come for a week in early June, but am leery of coming the weekend of the Tony's. Are tickets more difficult to come by that weekend/week before and after?

Also, are reasonable hotel rooms more difficult to find?

Thanks for your advice!

There's no such thing as a reasonable hotel room price in this city.

If you plan ahead of time with discounts, tickets shouldn't be more difficult- I do anticipate an even more heavy uptick for Book of Mormon though, so if you plan on seeing that one, it'd be best to plan far ahead.

I work in ticket sales, and tickets for Tony week definitely need to be bought if you want something decent. Not only is that Tony week, but beginning of summer vacations for a lot of people.

I come to NYC every year at Tony Time. The one thing I have noticed this year is that more new musicals are Dark on Tony Sunday than other years. Seems like only the Plays still have matinees that day. I know it seems like some new musicals were dark in the past--but this year I have not found any playing Sun. Matinees. Not that I think it is a bad thing--I was always amazed how these shows could do a matinee and do the Tonys with what all is in store in both showing the home audience what their show is about and the anticipation of winning!

I'm sure the change in venue brought a change in the schedule that would make doing a matinee a challenge for some of the shows.
