Posted: 4/12/13 at 11:53amIt was terrible and after the negative reviews, I believe it even ended its run early. Great performers, excellent direction and design, but a contrived mess. I doubt it will ever get produced again.

Posted: 4/12/13 at 11:54amI remember when it played here in Chicago and the cast and crew was pumping it up as the next big thing to hit the scene and I even heard some calling it a pre-Broadway run (although, I don’t think it were ever any official plans, although I could be wrong?) and then when it began its run, all I heard about it was “meh.” It seemed quickly forgotten about here in Chicago, even when it was running.

Posted: 4/13/13 at 1:16pmIt's the same concept and general story, but the producer fired the original writers and had the book and script entirely redone, neutering a lot of the menace and sending it over the top into cringe-worthy preachy territory. Be glad it died as it did - maybe it'll mean the original can be properly revised and brought back at some point.

Posted: 4/13/13 at 5:35pmI saw it in Chicago. It needed some work, but I really enjoyed it. Some great music and the Hip-Hop Hoedown number was a showstopper. It really showed a lot of potential.

Posted: 4/14/13 at 3:25pmNope, none of the songs from NYMF are in the show anymore (and I always joked with friends about 'I Hate Mondays' and 'Do the Laundry').

Hip Hop Hoedown? Yeah. This show needs to die.
What did you think of the number and how it worked in the show?
