Tommy Tune's original staging was brilliant for WHOREHOUSE. To God's hears we get his involvement!
But alas, Tune has said he's not interested in revivials.
It was done at Ogunquit last summer.
She did it in Ogunquit first and then came to Minnesota and did it here. I was in it with her and she was wonderful. In great voice. Her Bus from Amarillo made me really appreciate the song.
And last year's concert was the dreadful one...On the Twentieth Century? An OK show but not right for the Actors Fund night...nto enough opportunites for people to shine.
Whorehouse is a pretty fast moving show with some good numbers. Not the best written music (everything just moves up a half step on each verse).
I think Reba would be wonderful but any country western gal could do it.

Really? I'm still kicking myself for not seeing On the Twentieth Century. I adore, adore, adore that show.
Actually, Emily Skinner is an inspired choice.
I don't know if Skinner is good for Miss Mona. However, it's a one-night only event so the chances of her being in attendance is pretty good. If she's having knee problems they can just sit her in that big wheelchair Ann-Margret would retreat to during the dance breaks on tour.
Skinner is still a little young, but would probably be wonderful.
I still think that Debra Monk is an inspired notion.

"If she's having knee problems they can just sit her in that big wheelchair Ann-Margret would retreat to during the dance breaks on tour."
I didn't hear about this. Why a wheelchair?
The opening scene which tells the "history" of the chicken ranch has a character named Wulla Jean - who was the old Madame who put in the rules that "made the place sorta special" - she's in a wheelchair. They explain that Mona replaced Wulla Jean after she died - and the wheelchair is usually part of the living room set and is usually Miss Mona's prefered "chair."
Ann Margret just sat in it more often than any other Mona in history...
Speaking of Wulla Jean - how about a cameo for Angie, now that she's moving back to the city?
Oh GOD! Can you imagine. That cameo would stop the show and bring the house down!
Or..if Angie were up to it...
They could change the Govenor to a female - a la "Ann Richards" -how fun would that be!
She could do a throw back to the old British dance hall numbers with "The Sidestep."
