I love it! And think of all those Broadway whores they can cast - I mean cast as the whores! Reba as Mona, please!

One of my favorite shows back in the day but I didn't care for the Ann-Margret tour a few years ago. That one was poorly directed/staged and not a lot of fun. I didn't like the movie either since they got rid of most of the score. Maybe someone will stage a good revival of this if the Actors Fund Show is well received.
Well Ann Margaret came across as an 85 year old woman in that show. Olivia De Havilland would have been more spritely in the role.
too bad they aren't doing TBLWGP...I'd pay a lot to see that!
Didn't they mount a production with Sally Struthers at one point?
Why am I not surprised by that last statement?!
Soooo excited! It's one of my fav. shows and it'll be exciting to see who they cast!
Cheers,

I saw Ann-Margret in that tour as well and was terribly disappointed. She gave the impression she'd never performed in front of an audience before, which I know wasn't true. I know she had recently hurt her wrist (she wore a splint in the show), so I figured perhaps her poor performance had something to do with that.
She went up on her lyrics several times and futilely looked to the others for help, most of whom shrugged her off. It was a train wreck.
Oh, if only they'd do the different Monas for different scenes...or at least BEG Dolly to come do it or make a special appearance.
Sally Struthers as Miss Mona.

I saw this show during its original run and loved the score. Can't wait to hear "Hard Candy Christmas" with a big all-star chorus.
Well you know Lillias White is going to play Jewel...
Maybe they can get Marvin Zindler to play himself. He's still on the air, you know.
I did the show a LONG while back with Becky Ann Baker (aka Becky Gelke) from the original cast. She was fantastic (no surprise there).
It's such a fun show to do, and a huge crowd-pleaser!
...and much better than the film (which isn't exactly God-awful, but nowhere near as good as the stage show).
and Rebecca Luker as Jewel...
Becky told me she had to go on one time (during the Broadway run) as Jewel! All the understudies were out. Musta been a hoot to see that white girl do "24 Hours of Lovin'."

Michael Bennett, you've made my day.

I really don't care for this show, but could be because I saw a horrible production of it at The Darien Dinner Theatre in 1986.
Why not PARADE?
PARADE was on Broadway less than ten years ago. Plus it's a real downer and features lots of nasty children. They would raise about 15 dollars for BCEFA if they did that show.
But it's GORGEOUS!! I'd pay $20
I think I need a towel! This news just got me all kinds of excited. I will be there come hell or high water!
The WHOREHOUSE score is one of the real gems of its era, full of authentic southern twang and charm and a real story-teller voice in the lyrics. Anyone else love "Doatsey Mae?" A counter-point moment in the show, in which a drabber waitress yearns to be someone else, the number brilliantly placed next to the faded glitter of the Ranch girls. It's a perfect little song. But I love the emotion in the whole score, "Girl, You're a Woman," which Dolly wouldn't knocked dead, didn't even make it into the film.
Dissenting vote: I hope it isn't Reba. Let's try someone else from C&W.
