I have heard buzz (from what I believe to be a fairly reliable source) that the Callaway sisters are going to star in WICKED beginning next year!! Ann as Elphaba, and Liz as Galinda.
The best part of this rumor is that they will switch roles on Wednesday and Saturday matinees!!
Has anyone else heard this?
I have heard this, but is it only in the Chicago company?

Nope, can you post pictures of them? just wondering what they look like.
I heard Broadway.
Thank God we can finally talk about this. Liz e-mailed me about it three weeks ago...It's definitely happening. Rehearsals begin December 5.
Are you kidding, RentBoy?

haha that sounds like fun!!!!!!!
EDIT: but i am going to miss megan hilty :[
I will finally see the show now.
ann has a bunch of concerts w/ the philly pops in december. i guess she can just commute. i thought it wasn't happening until ana gasteyer was out of the show in chicago. shows you what i know.
You're really hearing Chicago? I heard New York... Damn, I hope it's NYC!!
PLEASE let it be NY...
If it's Chicago, then I will have to drag my ass to see this show AGAIN. *sigh* I haven't seen them since the Sibling Revelry tour and I love the Callaways.
I can't figure out if any of you are really serious or just passing time making jokes. These two are both fantastic performers, but I cannot imagine either of them in this show. It is such a mediocre show, and Liz's voice is just better than the material, all the way around. I'm flummoxed.
redhot, just because they are better than the material does not mean they don't want to be in a hot show. AND together. Think of the big picture.
liz is best friends w/ stephen schwartz and has done a two person cabaret act with him for years. she was the first to sing DEFYING GRAVITY. i think it is a stunt meant for a limited run.
Rath - I hear ya, but I just really disliked the show so much, and I feel that they are both capable of getting good work elsewhere - not to mention (and I know I'll get slapped for this) that they are both a bit long in the tooth to play the roles of college chums.
When was the last time you saw either on Broadway? And maybe they don't feel the same way about the show as you do.
Oh, why shouldn't they do it? If nothing else, you can put on your resume that you can play green and have ridden 8x per week in a cherry-picker. That's got to have some merit in "special skills."
The last time I saw liz was in The Spitfire Grill a few years back, and I think Ann's last show was probably Swing (wasn't that the name of it?) I never actually considered Ann an actress - more of a cabaret singer with a talent for writing. (not that you have to be much of an actress to carry off either of these two roles). I'm all for people working in the theatre- hell, thats why they got involved in the business - but this just doesn't sound like a very interesting choice, to me. Give me their cabaret act, Sibling Revelry, any day!
Aren't they both a bit old??
(I'm still not sure if this is real or not)
Hanna - you slay me!...I was thinking the same thing!
red, maybe they're going for a new demographic. They have cornered the teen/tween girl market. I have had no desire to see the show before, but I would run to see it with these two. It's marketing, it's business, and for them, it's a run on Broadway - together.
I heard the two surviving Del Rubio triplets are doing the show in Canada.
Ha! Okay, now THEY are too old.
