This whole thing is bizarre. But so far, it's all talk y'all.
Does anyone have a link or any solid proof that does not entail ambiguous emails or word of mouth gushing to suggest this happening at all?

"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending.
The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."

Don't think so, but that's what makes it fun. The innuendo, outuendo.

stage_door, obviously not. That's the point of this thread if you read the first post - I am asking if anyone has confirmation of something I've heard.

Rathnait62 -
I'm clearly aware of that, I was just trying to reiterate the point of the thread.
And if I sounded a little rude I do indeed apologize, I just had a severe adverse reaction to this idea, that's all.
Andrew has it down pat..."i think i threw up a little"

This is by far the oddest thing I've heard in a while. I loved Wicked(no, I'm not 13 years old) and I'm obviously a fan of Idina. I thought the OBC was great, but even Idina and Cheno were pushing it as far as age goes. Those two playing college students was a stretch, but they pulled it off. Ann and Liz are both way too old to play those parts. It would be great to see them do something together, but not Wicked. It's absurd.
Pillowpants. 'Nuff said.

Ditto 100%. I *really* hope it's not true.

Redhot -- I will hit 44 in April. Maybe I can play Elphie. I think that would add some drama to the show -- Fiyero making out with a drag queen who's green. WOW. My sister would make a GREAT Glinda (and she's only 4
. That would ALSO be a sister act!!!

I'm pretty sure it's not true. From what I'm hearing, Kristy Cates (the Chicago Elphaba standby and former Broadway u/s) is going to take over for Ana, and Stacie Morgain Lewis (Broadway Glinda Standby) is going to take over for Kate.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I saw Liz perform defying gravity, and although she was good, they had to drop down the song for her to reach the notes. also i hadnt realised that she has a goon soprano voice to carry glinda, but who knows.

Oh, I don't doubt that Liz can handle the soprano stuff - she has a gorgeous voice which is very rangy...no problem there. It's Ann that I wonder about with the elphie stuff - I've never heard her belt that high, but that doesn't mean she can't do it.
I once saw a special on PBS where Liz sang a bunch of Sondheim stuff during an interview with him, and her take on Dot from Sunday in the Park was lovely. She's got the chops.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!"

ann is a classically trained soprano and liz still sings THE STORY GOES ON in the original key.
(ohmygod i so hope it's not true because WICKED is such a sacred cow and they might HURT IT!)

I saw Ann the other night at Jazz Standard, and she has the high notes and power for Defying Gravity. Doesn't have to screech them either. Just sayin'.

Well, this is another situation where rumors run amuck. Several people have heard several things and apparently none of them are true. It was an interesting prospect and would have been highly entertaining, but it's not happening. It was a fun thread though. Someone call the Andrews sisters!

Actually, I just heard through the grapevine that it will be Cher in the role of Elphaba and Bette in the role of Galinda/Glinda. Should be great!

Now I don't mean to bash opinions, or anything like that but-
Why is it Broadway unknowns like Bean and Hilty get praise from the Wicked fans, but the Callaway sisters , who many Wicked fans have no clue about but have had great Broadway and concert careers, are old, wrong, and weird for the roles.
Now I don't know about you, but I'd rather see a proven Broadway performer in the role than some standby who has zero star power.
If you get to see either of them in Wicked or anything else, count yourself lucky. They are both great talents, with miles of experience to bring to the roles.
I hope this rumor is true.

It doesn't seem to be true, Carolee, from JG2's info, but I applaud your post and sentiment. Thank you.

Thanks Rathnait. Even if it's not true, I just needed to get it out of my system.
Same thing happened when Ana was announced for the Chicago run. People freaked out, even though she has miles of pro stage work under her belt. She turned out to be fab, and everyone ate their words. Nobody had a big cow when Hilty and Bean, who have zero leading Broadway roles under their belts, took over.
I just hope they stop promoting standbys to lead roles in this show. Hilty and Bean just don't have the chops of those who held the roles before them, and it shows. They are very, excuse the pun, Green, and not quite ready to carry a show that requires you to act and sing in buckets.
