Why would it "move" to LA? It's selling out every night in Chicago.
I'm pretty sure LA is getting their own production with a new cast.

Posted: 7/8/06 at 11:47pmIt's possible, same thing happened with POTO when it moved from LA to San Fransisco. If this were to happen with WICKED, would likely be because they don't want more than one other sit down outside NY in the country at the same time.

Yes, but if they didn't then they would have two productions in the same state. They would be moving it to the other side of the country if they transferred it from Chicago to LA.

Posted: 7/9/06 at 2:52amAs far as I can tell, it's still doing very well. When I saw it six weeks ago or so it was packed. Also, the show I just did performed down the street from "Wicked" and after spending two months of trying to make my way through a sea of middle-aged mothers and their daughters on my way to the theater, I'm confident in saying that the show will be here for a while.

No, it wasn't. The producers had to guarantee Broadway in Chicago a minimum length of run, which was 1 year. Then the producers could decide whether or not they were going to close the show. Before the run started, they announced that the show would stay as long as it sells, and would then tour. NOthing has changed. They may have anticipated a potential to move the Chicago production to LA, but that was one scenario of two. Since the show has been selling well since day one, they have never speculated on a closing date, let alone the end of the year, so plans for an LA sit-down went to the "new" production scenario instead.

Although there has never been speculation of closing while the show has been running, it certainly was planned to be limited before it began.

Does that mean that after the Chicago sit-down closes there will be a second tour company?

uhhh...as far as I know estimates have been that the show will run until 2008...because it's selling that effin' well...
and I hope it does...as well as Spelling Bee...and then we just need 10 or so more sit-downs...
