On Shubert Alley and outside the Broadway...
Just make sure casting is approved by all actors of stage, tube and film.
Love it! I'd totally buy that as a windowcard.
Now that's some brilliant artwork, I agree it's very Almodovar and while I obviously don't know what the musical will be like, it at least completely captures the fun humor of this magnificent comedic film. I can't wait to know the cast. Sherrie Rene Scott is a done deal at this point (Hunter Foster would kill me for this but as much as I love Sherrie, I'd have loved to see Salma Hayek as Pepa who played the role in one of the workshops) and according to ATC this is probably going to be Patti LuPone's next Broadway project. I guess Brian Stokes Mitchell is in talks too. Now I'm dying to know who will be playing the other roles, especially since Jessica Biel supposedly got cold feet and decided not to do the show. Can't wait for this!
especially since Jessica Biel supposedly got cold feet and decided not to do the show.
When did that happen???
"...and according to ATC this is probably going to be Patti LuPone's next Broadway project."
Wahoo!!!!
"especially since Jessica Biel supposedly got cold feet and decided not to do the show."
Double Wahoo!!!
Wasn't Joanna Gleason a part of some of the readings? Is she no longer attached?
Yes, but I believe LuPone will be now be playing the role Gleason did in a reading. LuPone did the most recent reading.
It's going to be pretty exciting if LuPone finally gets to originate a role in a new musical again.

I'm so excited for this! I just found a new wallpaper for my iPod...
High-resolution version on the LCT website: http://www.lct.org/extrasGallery.htm
I think I might have to fly my partner in for this. It is his favorite film after Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I can totally see LuPone in this. Great poster! Thanks for sharing!
(Just noticed for the first time the movie's "Woman" has been changed for the musical to "Women." I smell a title song.)
I like how it echoes the opening credits sequence of the film. I'm curious to see how it'll look on a Playbill.
When is the last time Patti did a new musical?
On Broadway it was Evita. But she created roles in Les Mis and Sunset Blvd in London.
Does anybody else think the eyes look like patti's or is it just me?
Twinbelters, the movie title was "Women" as well.
I definitely thought the eyes looked like Patti's, too.
Reg: Oops. My bad.
Why can't I right click and make the poster my work computer's wallpaper? Is this a thing with BWW? I don't recall trying before.
Slick job on the Playbill, sir or madame.
Jessica Biel's "cold feet" is all speculation at this point, but Friedman's sources are often reliable, here's the link to his blog spot about the Biel situation. For those of you who don't feel like clicking on it, he basically says that she's worried about committing to a show instead of making films...if this is true then she should stay making the crappy Hollywood movies she's known for, even if no one seems to be rushing to see her in them (Exhibit A: THE A-TEAM).
