Did you forget that Dracula Review?
"IT SUCKS!" - New York Post
And it looks like the world and his mother agreed on that subject.
and wicked is the musical that's doing the best right now on broadway.. and dracula.. NOT! How can you explain that?

People, can we just stick to the topic here? This reminds of of the domino effect...one person throws everyone off topic, then everyone goes along with it.
I have another logo I don't care for: Cabaret.

"...Frank Wildhorn, creaked open last night at the Belasco Theater with all the animation, suspense and sex appeal of a Victorian waxworks in a seaside amusement park." Ben Brantley
"3) There is no danger of gooey, irresistible melodies sticking to your memory. Though the songs have promisingly top 40-ish titles like 'Forever Young' and 'Life After Life,' they are unlikely to be recorded by Rod Stewart or Cher....." Ben Brantley
"The show isn't even good junk. Hewitt plays Dracula with all the blood-lust appeal of a park statue, even when he transforms into what appears to be a giant papier-mâché bat."
I can quote more, but I wont.....

Oh, sure. Because as we all know the best musicals ever written are the ones with an a** in every seat. That's why Caroline or Change is still running. C'mon. I'm not saying DRACULA is a great musical in terms of writing, but selling out has nothing to do with quality. How many times must we argue this?
And I know the reviews I posted were out of context. that was my point. That's how easy it is...

CATSNYrevival, if Dracula is any good, why did it get 99.9% BAD reviews? And people that saw it AGREED on that.
Oh, and last week, Dracula dropped -25% attendants

Posted: 8/29/04 at 11:51pmI'm sorry, just because critics say a show is bad does not mean it's not enjoyable and fun to watch. I KNOW the book needs work. I KNOW the lyrics need work. But, I can admit that. The Wiz-0-Maniacs still sit and INSIST that WICKED is the best show ever when they know it's not up to the bar of some of the greats. For DRACULA, I still had a good time. The sets, the costumes, the lights, the show is incredible. A lot of people have posted that they didn't like it, but a lot of people have also posted that they did like it, same as WICKED. Getting bad reviews, and dropping in attendance does not mean a show is not enjoyable. That has nothing to do with it!!!! and it was not universally agreed. NOTHING is EVER universally agreed. SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE will always have a different opinion of what they saw on that stage.

I'm gonna disagree with that too. The book of poems does not have a plot. Eliot had intended for it to have a plot, but due to a publishing deadline had to drop it. But, the show does have a plot. It has a concept just like COMPANY has a concept. And the fact that the creators of CATS were only allowed to use the words of Tom Eliot, that they were able to produce a "story" and or concept using his unpublished poems and fragments is an achievement in and of itself.
The idea for a celebration to take place between all Jellicle cats was Tom's and Tom's alone. All cats were invited to come "with a flute and a fife and a fiddle and a drum". When he wrote that all cats were to eventually go up, up, up past the Russell Hotel and up, up, up to the Heaviside Layer the concept for an evening was already born through him. That did not come from Andrew Lloyd Webber or Trevor Nunn... not even the idea for the show to take place in a "wasteland" was original. That was all Eliot...

That logo made me laugh. I thought it was for lesbians with breast cancer at first, and I was very weirded out.

Sunday in the Park with George is absolutely DREADFUL
The eventual poster for Dance of the Vampires (not the Minskoff marquee, which was really a rip-off of Phantom and the German Tanz) was terrible. You couldn't even read the credits and the picture didn't even make sense!
