“I think I speak for 99 percent of actors when I say that the reason we do this job, while it’s lovely to get recognized by your peers, it’s not the reason why we do it,” said Radcliffe. “The people that do this job for awards and recognition are kind of worshiping at the wrong altar, and I’m not really quite sure if I want to know those people.”

Come now! There must be a pack of you ready to tear into him for something- There always is!
The definition of a gentleman. Whoever snags him up is one very lucky individual.
Good for him.
I wouldn't wanna be friends with the Pone either...
He has a good head on those petit shoulders.
His publicist wrote a very nice statement.
A nice statement that he had the courtesy to memorize and repeat in public, as that's a direct quote from his "Broadway Talks" interview with Jordan Roth last night.
Aaron Tveit can learn a thing or two from him
scott, the article is quoting his interview with Roth.
Regardless of whether or not it was prewritten or repeated (I haven't investigated, but I'm sure it is - most statements by public figures are), the fact that he made the statement certainly sheds some light on his character. Many others in a similar position to him would tear at the nominating committee and whine to the press, as we've seen before.
Considering the huge success he's had at such a young age, he seems a very humble young man.
His mama and daddy did a good job raising him!

Daniel doesn't need the kudos.
Does it matter that he's British?
I remember Hugh Dancy getting robbed not only of his Tony, but of his Tony nomination for Journey's End. He was so alive in that show and performed it differently every night--a great sign of courageous, vibrant acting. I don't think he minded not being nominated; he looked very happy collecting the award for Best Revival.
I also recall Jonathan Pryce being really bent out of shape that he category for replacement was deleted due to non-attendance of the Tony voters when he was in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. To him it mattered immensely, so it seemed. Would Radcliffe not want to know him?
Must we find fault with EVERYONE? Sheesh.
The Jonathan Pryce situation was a little bit different. Pryce's issue wasn't that he didn't win the replacement Tony, but that the committee didn't bother to see his performance to see whether it was worthy. It's understandable he'd be ticked off.
In all seriousness, has any performer ever publicly griped about being snubbed during the same season? Aaron Tveit said a couple of years later that he was disappointed that he wasn't nominated for Next to Normal -- he didn't complain about it, he just said he was disappointed, and it was years later. I don't have any problems with that.
Well, it couldn't have been TOO many years later...it was only nominated in 2009. (Right, 2009?)

I see no fault with Radcliffe.
He already has his kudos from Harry Potter. He doesn't need the Tony (another kudo) to draw a crowd or get work.
He's saying he does what he does for the joy of acting, in essence. Who can fault that?
Daniel Radcliffe continues to be the definition of class. This makes me love him even more.

What, exactly? To my knowledge, Tveit has never publicly said anything about his two recent Tony snubs other than that he was "pretty much devastated" when he wasn't nominated for next to normal. He never complained about the nominators, never said he was snubbed, never expressed anything other than disappointment. I don't see the problem with that.

He is truly a class act.
Also, I echo what adamgreer said...all Tveit ever expressed (to my knowledge anyway) was disappointment over his lack of Tony nomination for Next to Normal, which I see nothing wrong with as that's a totally human thing to feel, especially with the kind of buzz he/the show were getting.
Didn't Bette Midler tell the TONY commitee to kiss her ass?
"Good for him.

I can't find that in the article. Can you provide a link?
So surprising that he'd make a remark like that after his original statement. Some people are just @ssholes, I guess.
Not an actor, so it's obviously a different a scenario, but just look at the striking difference:
Bette Midler on Twitter:
"Hey Tony Committee, give me a call. I have something I want you to kiss!"
"It's COMMERCIAL THEATER, PEOPLE! These shows are the Gift Horses of Broadway!!"
That was actually when I unfollowed Bette on twitter.
A class act. He was a pleasure to see on stage, and I was disappointed he wasn't nominated.
adamgreer, must you always have something to say that disagrees with me? I know you love Tveit...doesn't mean you must always defend him.
"Tveit has never publicly said anything about his two recent Tony snubs other than that he was "pretty much devastated"
DUH, I know that. He was whining like a child. This isn't the first time he mentioned this in an interview. He could of respected the decisions of the Tony voters like Radcliffe. I'm sure you'll try an find a way to express your love for this actor, but I don't want to really hear it, thanks
