I'm waiting for the inevitable discount. There's no way this show will fill the vast Palace Theater on full price tickets.
I DO agree with you, Adam in that respect, but really wanted to give the opening night a shot.
URGENT!: Having been to the Palace ONCE in my life -- 6 years ago -- I can't remember a damn thing about it. The Mazzanine - Front and Center Row A - 107-108 overhangs at Row K or O (according to various seating charts, that seems to be debated). BTW, Row A of the Mezz. *is* 1st or 2nd row? I only ask 'cause I don't want my view obstructed by some big-headed freaks. How's the view from that spot? Is is it totally 'too far away', or is worth the $120 / a ticket?

I don't think it is. I was in Row B of the mezzanine once and it was the fourth row.
It was great actually! A nice view of the stage, but honestly, it was little far back for what a front mezzanine usually feels like.
Mm. I'm torn now...
Do I buy them 'just to have them' or should I wait it out?
In the Palace, Row A is the second row of the mezzanine. Row AA is the first row.
I would "wait it out." There are bound to be discounts for this show, number one, and number two, they ALWAYS sell the worst seats first. Even if they don't discount, you will eventually be able to get an orchestra seat for regular price that is closer than Row P, I'm sure of it.

I would wait it out because I doubt this show will be a huge sellout - the Palace is pretty big.

I can't believe the balcony is $45 a ticket... is that the same price as Legally Blonde? I remember paying $20 for those seats during Aida.
i plan to wait it out as well. The Palace is hard to fill and I'm sure after the first month or two there should be some kind of discount available.

You are reading my mind !!! I paid the $45 for "WSS"
(for Balc A), but wife and I saw "Aida" just about weekly paying $20-$25 for Balcony at the Palace !! Was such a great deal !! But, if I am not mistaken, I think that price was only for rear balc.
If I remember correctly, "All Shook Up" had some kind of a $19.50 price for the entire balcony.
Please... its the Palace. I've NEVER purchased tickets in advance for ANY show that's played there -- from WOMAN OF THE YEAR, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, WILL ROGER'S FOLLIES, ALL SHOOK UP to even LEGALLY BLONDE. That theatre is infamous for releasing hords of seats in the first 10 rows of the orchestra (center left and right) the day before AND the day of the performance.
Anyone jumping the gun getting advance seats for this WEST SIDE STORY revival is wasting their time -- especially since they didn't release ALL of the seat locations today. The scalpers aren't touching this show (economy, etc.) whatsoever. They are only touching surefire sellers like WICKED and THE LION KING. Seriously.
Thanks so much for the reassurance, Fosse!
I was feeling super-nervous about 'waiting it out' -
but now, I feel all the better.
I had only been to the Palace for ONE show - AIDA in 2002.
I went as part of a school trip - Don't remember much of that day aside from sitting 'somewhere in the orchestra' and eating lunch in the lobby. LoL
Thanks Adam and Fosse... that's good to know
I stopped by the Palace box office this morning and they're not selling tickets untill probably sometime in January.
It's really disgusting that on the 1st day of selling tickets the absolute best Orch seats available are in Row P. I even checked all the way out to November of 2009 and there's still nothing better!
And even more sad is that they still haven't announced who's in the cast yet

I'm fairly new to all of this.
Everyone seems pretty certain Curtis Holbrook is Action.
Historically speaking, how accurate have people been?
I ran into Curtis Holbrook about 2 weeks ago and he IS definitely going to be playing Action in the show, but he didn't know any of the other casting at that point.

Calm down! There will be discounts, and people with extra tickets to get rid of on Craigs List, and released house seats if all else fails...
Testing - "You've thrown 'em off the track now!" lol
Testing, how come you changed the thread title? Think that will decrease/slow down ticket sales? Lol.

Actually, I went to edit my post, and the title changed... I didnt even think I touched the title! Figured I would leave it
alone. I basically started the thread this morning to see if anyone was able to get tix to the opening night-
Testing... your original post is blank too.
I would have loved to go on opening night but that's pretty tough, and my buddies don't go out on weeknights anyway.
Last time I had opening night tix for a show (Old Acquaintance)they called me and said it was a mistake and made me change them for another day
And the last time I actually went to an opening night was in the 80's for a show called "Mixed Couples" with Julie Harris & Geraldine Page. It closed about 3 days later - lol.
And fyi - I had gotten great orch seats for "All Shook Up" just before it closed for only $27.50
