Wall to Wall Sondheim CD?

I was thinking about something the other day, and then it just hit me - I remember during the W2W Sondheim broadcast on XM that they said something about a CD coming out eventually. Any news since? I would REALLY like to know!

re: Wall to Wall Sondheim CD?

Assuming it'll be a highlights CD, which ones would be on it, do you think? It'll for sure include:

"A Little Priest" (though they might need to touch that one up from the live version)
"The Ladies Who Lunch"
"In Buddy's Eyes"
"Sunday"
"There Won't Be Trumpets"
"Send in the Clowns" (the second one)
"Being Alive"
"Waiting for the Girls Upstairs"
"Comedy, Tonight (orchestrial)"
"Not a Day Goes By (orchestrial)"

What eles?

Slightly off thread... but how is the Sondheim Sing's Cd?

I've been wondering the same thing, too. I'm praying they do come out with the cd soon! And personally, I would really like to have Michael Cerveris singing Anyone Can Whistle on the cd!

re: Wall to Wall Sondheim CD?

Why do we need another recording of Stritch singing "The Ladies Who Lunch" or Cook singing "In Buddy's Eyes" and with the DVD of SWEENEY TODD, we already have preserved Lansbury and Hearn together doing "A Little Priest".

Don't get me wrong, I loved these performances live, but with 12 hours of material to choose from, I think we can find some more interesting items, that aren't often heard, or performed by someone else rather than the person who originated them.

I'd say:

- Any of the early stuff ("I Must Be Dreaming", "How Do I Know", etc.)
- Michael Arden and Sheldon Harnick performing "Free".
- Kate Burton performing "I Never Do Anything Twice".
- At least one of the Ying Quartets pieces.
- Joanna Gleason singing "The Boy From...".
- Telly Leung singing "Poems".
- "Saturday Night" performed by Hudson Chad.
- Alvin Ing and "Take Me To the World".
- "Waiting For the Girls Upstairs" bringing a couple of the "young" kids from the original cast to perform their older roles this time around.

That's what I'd like to see.

Queen Anne - it's -- well - interesting.
If you're a BIG Sondheim fan, you need to get it because some of the songs are slightly different from what you know, and it's just interesting hearing him sing them. It's certainly not something you're going to put on often, but it's worth hearing. He's not a BAD singer, but this CD would certainly have never been made if it wasn't "STEPHEN SONDHEIM".

re: Wall to Wall Sondheim CD?

September 27, they are releasing remastered copies of Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George, and Into the Woods (I think that's the list, it's been a while since I saw it). The CDs are supposed to include not only the remastered tracks, but aso the original demo tracks.

re: Wall to Wall Sondheim CD?

My favorite section, apart from the final concert aided by the full orchestra, was the Between Matinee and Evening Performances hour. Carolee Carmello singing "There Won't Be Trumpets", Carmello and Gregg Edelman's fantastic "Move On", Gleason's "The Boy From...", and more.

I was 6 feet away from him when he sang Anyone Can Whistle at the Wall to Wall. I'd never heard of him before...I instantly got a crush.
