Was Your Company on PBS Edited for Language?

I don't feel like reading pages of threads to find the answer. Was you Company censored? I found it quite idiotic that even Jesus Christ, which is part of a lyric, was edited, among other parts, included the banter in the middle of "You Could Drive a Person Crazy". It was on PBS at 9pm.
I've seen and heard a lot worse than this on PBS, Tales of the City being the first thing to come to mind.
If the DVD is edited, I'll be PISSED.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 5:31pmIt wasn't edited for thirteen, which is PBS in NYC..but I always have closed captioning on, and that was edited.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 5:34pmGiven that some places didn't have any edits at all, I can't see why the DVD would be censored. I'm pretty sure this was a regional thing. Here, our airing was preceded by a warning that there was "language" and that the program was only for "mature audience members." Friends of mine in other areas didn't see have that warning, and they did have edits. Why would the DVD be edited? Movies that are aired on TV are censored all the time, but nobody bleeps out all the language on the DVD releases.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 5:36pmWe didn't get any warning! When Walsh was edited for saying Jesus Christ I just about threw the remote across the room.

Then that probably explains why the edits.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 5:44pmI find it soooooo stupid that this was even an issue. I mean, who did they think was watching it? Any language (and I actually never thought about it before) in Company is there for a reason.

I can't wait until they start realizing that more people are offended by the censorship than are by the language. I love how "son-of-a-bitch" is fine, "christ" is fine, and "jesus" is fine, but "jesus christ" is going too far.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 5:52pmI never get the censorship of language. I mean, anyone with a vocabulary knows what they're actually saying. Might as well keep it in.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 5:54pmWell, it hasn't aired here (Dallas) yet, so the whole thing has been censored!

Posted: 2/22/08 at 6:05pmIt was censored here too. What's so bad about "Jesus Christ", but not "Jesus"? Isn't Jesus Christ his full name?

Posted: 2/22/08 at 6:22pmI just find this hilarious coming from the channel that didn't censor a minute of Tales from the City, which included nudity and bad language.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 6:27pmI know! I was gonna say I've seen nudity on PBS and nudity seems to be more taboo in this country than language. I was very shocked that they made an issue out of it. Even worse was when they actually *bleeped* the airing of CONTACT which had no release on DVD.

Posted: 2/22/08 at 6:48pmOh, it was retarded here in Miami, it was semi-censored here. We heard Jesus but not Christ, we heard most of the cursing in You Can Drive A Person Crazy, but April's "----head" was cut off. I was seriously angry about that!
