"Who else but La Streisand, of course."

Finally, a voice of reason. Excellent suggestion, but she would never do it...

By the way, get ready for your cyber bitc*-slap from Dollypop!

re THAT STREISAND WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Broadway Bulldog, you are a nitwit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Streisand Woman as Dolly GALLAGHER Levi? She tried her hand at playing the part once and was an ignominious failure. Now you suggest she continue the massacre?

Actually, your subconcious took over while you were typing that missive. You suggested we imagine her standing in the red gown "sining". Ah yes, it would be the greatest sin of all to cast Miss "I'm Retired" in one of the most glorious roles ever written for the musical stage.

Prepare to take your Cyber Slap!

re: re THAT STREISAND WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DollyPopl,

"Sinning" and "signing" is about the same for most of today's Broadway performers. But, of course, not for La Streisand. Alas, I couldn't let it stand so I had to correct the typo.

As for La Streisand on stage as Dolly, think of the casting coup...think of the ticket demand...all seats in the house can be "VIP" tickets, $500 a pop (no pun intended).

It is an obvious choice if one were producing a revival and regardless of one's opinion of La Streisand this choice leaves the other names totally in the dust.

Yours for a better Broadway!

I'm ready for that slap now....OUCH!...Oh, that was good, your majesty!

I'm glad you took your punishment like a man. Not like Albin who cowers in fear every time approach him with a machete!

Yes, it would be a casting coup, but think of the integrity of the material!

re: re: re: re: re THAT STREISAND WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, but if it did happen, would you see the production? Or would your pitiful jealousy win out over your supposed love of TWHM?

Why don't you just admit it? Although Streisand was too young to play the part, vocally it's never been done better. She more than did justice to Herman's fabulous score. Even he had good things to say about Babs performance...

re: re: re: re: re: re THAT STREISAND WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, Dollypop, I have been following your obsession with Dolly and Channing for a while now but still for the life of me can't figure out what TWHM or other acronyms stand for. Mind giving and interested oldster/newbie poster a clue?
PEACE.

re: re: THAT STREISAND WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To TRDA: Thank you for catching my typo. I have corrected the error. I have been known to make an occasional error--for example, I allowed myself to become acquainted with you. (How I rue the day!)

Tp BillyLawlor: I thought you were my friend, but it is obvious that you are now aligned with the perfidious Albin. I hope you enjoy his company, for you have forfeited mine!!!!!!!!!!

That Streisand Woman as Dolly!!! What folly!!!!!!!

Dolly!!!!!

My dearest DollyPop- I am not aligned and/or friends with anyone but you. My first choice for Dolly would be you, of course, but if we needed to pick a female to play the role, those would be my choices. I have not forfeited you in any way. I will forever be your faithful student and friend.

re: Dolly!!!!!

To my Former Friend, BillyLawlor:

If you want to see That Streisand Woman continue the St. DollyDay Massacre, then you are on Albin's side.

This is war, kiddo. If you want to see That Woman play the parat, you're with Albin.

The Carol Channing lovers are on my side of the Great Divide.

re: re: Dolly!!!!!

But...But...Dollypop- friends HAVE to disagree sometimes! Please reconsider!

re: re: re: Dolly!!!!!

As I said, Billy: THIS IS WAR.

Choose sides. You're either with Albin or Dollypop.

re: re: re: re: Dolly!!!!!

OKay, Okay- If I HAVE to choose- than I'll go with *deep breath* Dolly/Channing.

re: re: re: re: re: Dolly!!!!!

Ah, BillyLawlor, you are a wise young man indeed! All's forgiven! (Now let's meet in the chat room so we can say bad things about Albin. Ok?)

You WUSS! What's the matter? Don't have courage of your convictions? Afraid to stand up to a bully like Dollypop?

I've said it before and I'll say it again proudly. Barbra sang the role of Dolly masterfully and now that she is the appropriate age, she would make a wonderful Dolly. She still has a beautiful voice and has terrific comedic timing!
