Alan Cumming. Yum. The Emcee on the recording. He's amazing.

This isn't completely random... I'm watching Daily Show clips online right now. Did anyone else see Rosario on Daily Show last week? He asked her, "Now you lived in the East VIllage, where RENT takes place. Did people break into song back then?"
I love him. He had John McCain on & he asked him if Dick Cheney was a cannibal.
Oh and my name is Liza, thus the icon being amusing to me, it's not completely random.

What happened to Andrae?
Fan: Oh my god! You're, like, standing right there and, like, looking right at me and, like, oh my god! Anthony Rapp: Yes, that's a pretty accurate discription of reality.

I've always associated Alan Cumming with Cabaret. Or vice versa. That was always about as much as I knew about the show. And for some reason thought it was a very sexual show? Am I wrong? Really, know absolutely nothing about it. I'm making it a New Year's resolution to see more musicals next year.

Haha I saw the Daily Show one. I thought it was entertaining. He's great. Conan is my late night show host though.

Well, I've only heard one Adam song from Cabaret. I think Adam is just as good as Alan on I Don't Care Much...but Alan...he's just...yeah.

Aw that's sad, you should watch Jon. He's amazing. I have a lot of Daily Show quotes of my profile, he's the funniest person ever. Rosario was funny, though. The interview is online, if anyone wants to see it.

Wilkommen, Bienvenue, WELCOME...
Jon Stewart is the best. I love him.

I'm sure Alan was way better. A lot of the things subsequent actors did were based on Alan's adlibs and things. Vocally, Adam could have it on anybody, but it's a heavy, heavy acting part.
It's very sexual. But not tastelessly, and not without reason. The revival was a lot dirtier than the original, say, but it does push limits.

I love that picture of Adam as the Emcee, are there any others of him from Cabaret? Anthony makes a pretty Hedwig, lol.

That's the only publicity picture that ever came out, presumably since his run was so short.
I have a few others. Hold on.

Same concept, I suppose you could say. But a very different take.

His face looks really gaunt! Why does the Emcee have to look like he's been starved?

It's the makeup. He's supposed to look like he's dying.
The press photo is how he looked in Act I, when things were happy and nice. In the second act, his makeup is dripping down his face, and the colors are far darker. He's deteriorating, just like Germany was.
Can't see the picture, Mandi.
