JoshuaEads... that's my friend's birthday - - she changed it to the 10th!
Can you do that? Not really, but she's a diva!
Hi everybody I'm new! Fun to be here. Anyways i thought i would post my first message to this as i am 15. I agree that it is wrong for people to think that Wicked is the only musical out there, but it is unfair to label all people under 18 as brainless wicked lovers. Don't get me wrong i love wicked and idina and cheno but i know that there are many other great shows out there that i am trying to see.(and i will leave the discussion of anything wicked at that as it seems to be discussed WAY to much) :) I live out of town so it's hard but i try to see a show no more than 2x because you never know what else is out there that you could love just as much! Some of the posts on this board have gotten me interested in seeing things like assassins(btw how long is it at the Roundabout?) and i've heard many great things about Donna Murphy and Tonya Pinkins so one of these days i may have to head over to those shows. Just thought i'd say hello! :)
I, for one, would never dismiss the opinions of a young fan of musical theatre. I'm just glad you're out there! My obsession with musicals started with the "current hits" of the time (Phantom, Les Miz, Miss Saigon) but, with time, I grew to love a range of shows and composers on Broadway and those hits took a backseat.
SO just ignore anyone who belittles you for loving Wicked so much. It ain't my cup of tea (but neither was Bare or Taboo and they both have tons of fans here) but good for you for loving a musical.
Nugget apologized, what else do you want? Blood? How about moving on to the next Kristin/Idina topic? Enough already. You are some vicious kids!
I just turned 19 on 5/3. And, no, we don't want Nuggetmonkey's blood. He DID apologize and no one's crying. calm down people. :)
by the way, welcome blonde :)
I am 18 and enjoy all the chatter that occurs here. It is interesting to hear everyone's opinions. I moving to NYC in a month and already can't wait to see more shows. I saw Wicked over Christmas with both Idina and Cheno and I am tempted to go again to possibly (most likely) see someone else give their takes on those two roles.
Welcome to all board newbies.
And trust me, NuggetMonkeys and his anti-teeny bopper remarks are the least of your worries here.
Enjoy your stay.
PLLLLEEEEEASSSEEE STOOOOPPPPPP. ahh. i am sorry. i am sorry. i did not say "young kids should not like broadway and those who do are bad. STOP POSTING, KIDS!" i simply said (and yes, HARSHLY and i am sorrryyyyyy) that before superlatively labeling modern works, look to the past as benchmarks and then assess and enjoy musicals comparatively. or not comparatively. your choice.
and for what it's worth, thank you MATT G.

i'm 15, and though wicked is now one of my favorites, i'll never give out on older shows (oklahoma, south pacific, little shope before the revival though the revival is ok, man of la mancha, mame) now i havent seen these shows on broadway, but i still have an appreciation for older shows as well as a love for newer shows...and yes at one time i was a rent fan, but it got old on me. im looking foward to going to see avenue q and caroline, or change. i'm actually proud of my semi-eclectic taste
