...still thinking, but I'd say Scarlet Pimpernel with Jane Eyre a close second
My favorite show, The Most Happy Fella

PASSION.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Anything Goes, IMO. but Cole Porter's words make me swoon
WEST SIDE STORY
Light in the Piazza
Hands down.
I HAVE to agree, Light in the Piazza.
That show touched me. just like that. :)
Carousel or West Side Story
Xanadu!
Just kidding, probably Light in the Piazza.
West Side Story
even though i'm a sucker for cute guys going for not-so-cute girls (hairspray, wicked) that is probably the teenager in me
i agree that PASSION is probably the most romantic show of all time
I agree with FolkyBoy

Bare (sorry, off-bway), West Side Story, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and I gotta say theres a lotta love in Rent
The Scarlet Pimpernel first thing that pops into my head! Piazza certainly second, if not above SP!

Passion or The Light in the Piazza
I can't decide between the two!
Definitely PASSION and WEST SIDE STORY.
THE MUSIC MAN, THE KING & I, and PIAZZA deserve honorable mentions though.
for me, Crazy For You. Love Gershwin.
but have to say that 'Where' the Girl' (full and reprise) from Scarlet Pimpernel are two of my favorite songs ever. and I get goose-bumps every time I hear them.
