Streisand at an ANNIE matinee. White pant suit, the red curly hair during her early Jon Peters era. Ruth Gordon and Ethel Merman at ROMANTIC COMEDY (same row, four seats apart). At intermission, Gordon and Merman both stayed in the seats, stood, and didn't acknowledge one another. I sat, mesmerized, 3 rows back. It was a preview. Gordon, we can assume, was in the house to see Mia Farrow. Merman went to everything.
