Through the years, and I'm sure I've forgotten many:
Jackie Onassis (Chicago) Liza Minnelli, Candace Bergen (Lydie Breeze) Tom Cruise (Six Degrees of Separation) (Nicole Kidman joined him after the show) Robert Redford (Master Class) Keanu Reeves (Hedwig, in L.A., and he left early with his date.) Kevin Bacon (Closer) Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft (A Class Act) Anne Jackson, Theodore Bikel (Long Days Journey Into Night) Tony Shaloub (Spamalot) Marsha Mason (Light in the Piazza) Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini, Oprah Winfrey (Three Days of Rain) Kathleen Chalfant (The Little Dog Laughed) John Slattery, Sam Rockwell (Boeing, Boeing) Cynthia Nixon (August Osage County) Amy Ryan (The New Century) Celeste Holm, Audra McDonald (Hair) Tommy Tune, Bobby Flay, Stephanie March (Mary Stuart) Chevy Chase, Jill Clayburgh, David Rabe (The Merchant of Venice) Sigourney Weaver (A Little Night Music)
--Mariska Hargitay and husband Peter Hermann, Alec Baldwin, Patrick Stewart and Brian Stokes Mitchell all at BAM's "Streetcar Named Desire" during the huge pre-Christmas blizzard of '09 (Mariska, Peter and Alec all left during intermission!)
--Rachel Dratch at "A Little Night Music" (Peters/Stritch)
--I heard that Warren Beatty was in the audience when I saw "Sweeney Todd" but I was too high up to see anything...there was a lot of commotion
John Turturro and his family at BAM's THE RED SHOES.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
Off the top of my head, in no particular order, sat next to or near: Sondheim (Big, Miss Margarita's Way & at Absinthe) Neil Young (Orpheus Descending with Vanessa Redgrave) Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward (Met Opera) Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell (a fundraiser at the Beacon) Martina Navratilova (a fundraiser at Radio City) Snoop Dog & entourage (Julius Caesar with Denzel Washington) Joel Grey (Pee Wee on Broadway) Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell (Broadway show... damn I can't remember which one...) Cynthia Nixon and her partner (at the CSC Theater off-Broadway) Jane Fonda and Ted Turner (actually their two empty house seats when they no-showed for Rent) Harvey Fierstein (Spring Awakening)
Anthony Rapp at Next to Normal (twice, Alice's last in July and closing night two weeks ago). Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows also at Next to Normal in November.
"I will not cease from mental fight, nor shall my sword sleep in my hand: Till we have built Jerusalem in England's green and pleasant land."
1971 Colonial Theater Boston. Walking into the theater to attend the first preview of Follies just a few feet away from Angela Lansbury and an actor who Were appearing togeather in Prettybelle. No memory in the theater can top this one for me.
-Jessie Tyler Ferguson and George Takei (Ragtime closing last year) -Mary Tyler Moore, Barbara Cook, and Bruce Springsteen (A Little Night Music re-opening night in August)
MusicAngel, we must have seen the same performance of Next to Normal!!!! I literally was sitting 2 rows behind Neil Patrick Harris and his boyfriend, David Burtka. At that same performance, a very pregnant Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs were stage door-ing the show....pretty much the best theater experience ever! :-P
When I saw Light in the Piazza, I also saw Christine Baranski (coincidentally, I also sat next to her at an amateur performance of Streetcar Named Desire)
Today I sat down in the lobby next to Hugh Jackman and Alfre Woodard at John Gabriel Borkman. Didn't realize it was them for about five minutes, when one of their mutual friends introduced someone to them. Also saw L&O:SVU's Christopher Meloni in the lobby as well.
Britney Spears @ Wicked (she was wearing one of her ridiculous colored wigs, huge sunglasses, and a weird hat. She sat a couple of rows ahead of me in the 3rd row. She left about 45 min. to an hour into the first act. Nobody had a clue it was her. I suspected it was her but wasn't sure until it was confirmed by TMZ, lol.
Madonna, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, ALW, David Caddick, some E.R. chick whose name escapes me @ EVITA film world premiere (I won tickets).
Those twins from that 90's sitcom Sister, Sister @ The Phantom of the Opera.
All of these sighting were in L.A.

BroadwayBound, my mom was at that performance of Night Music as well. She was sitting right near him and made a point of "bumping" into him as they left. It was all she could talk about for the next day!
Zac Efron and Mariska Hargitay at In the Heights (not on the same night) Robert Sean Leonard at Company

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
