How about:

SOMETHING OF THIS MASQUERADE MAY FOLLOW

Music: Jim Steinman
Lyrics: Ray Errol Fox

You'll never get away from me then!

I was actually just laughing last night at the thought of somebody trying to turn a movie about Hannibal Lector into a movie. I could just imagine some of the funny songs about eating parts of the body.

CITIZEN KANE? COOL!!!

But I think it would best as an an "Opera" [with sung dialogue like in DREAMGIRLS]

STEEL MAGNOLIAS would make a WONDERFUL musical.

Its depection of female bonding in a southern setting would lend itself BEAUTIFULLY to the musical stage.

The first LANDMARK musical in Broadway history took place in the South as well. (SHOW BOAT, 1927).

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS as a MUSICAL?

Why, you would be about as unsuccessful as the folks who wrote LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!!! re: What Famous Movies Should Be Made Into Musicals?

1) HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE (Yes, I know of the two 1940s musical versions of THREE BLIND MICE.....but I'd like to see the story updated to the present and with an entirely new score)

2) RUGGLES OF RED GAP (Yes, I know there was a Styne TV version with 'I'm In Pusuit of Happiness' that wound up in GYPSY as 'You'll Never Get Away From Me'...but the story is so good it could stand another musical treatment)

3) KLONDIKE ANNIE (Just saw this Mae West classic a few nights ago, and it could be a hoot as a full-fledged musical)

ok this is a little different but i have been thinking about it for a while as a show and like how I would have the show look and staging and such.. I think 'A League Of There Own' would make a good musical.

Great idea, but would you simulate ballgame scenes like they did in DAMN YANKEES?

(Announcer's voice gave play-by-play accounting--no actual scene was shown.)

no, in the movie there is a scene that kind of shows a lot of the games at one time set to music.. I would have that scene as a big dance number and have the stage be the out felid.. with the announcer (or maybe even newies selling papers keeping in the times) announcing the scores and such talking over the music at points so you the audience and get who wining but be entertained at the same time.

but for the other scenes I would have home plate up stage center and the dugouts set up so you can see and here what is going on in the 'Rockford Peaches' dugout while the 'game' is going on.. while at the same time still using the announcer for the out field part of the game. but still see people batting and running out to 1st (where they would run off stage right) and them back to home (running in form stage left)

Hi sharon1, :)

GREAT IDEA!!!

Who do you see as Vicki Lester in stage version?

Also, film had only about 8 numbers in it--hardly enough for a Broadway Show.

Arlen and Gershwin are both deceased. How would you go about getting NEW songs for show?

Casablanca is BASED on a play. And I think we have enough broadway shows based on movies.

Hey Sant! :)

So we agree on BABY JANE as a musical!

But who could fill Bette's and Joan's shoes?

(Please don't even MENTION horrible TV-remake with Redgrave Sisters!)

Mary_Ethel - "Baby Jane" is a musical already. (Jrb_actor was in it)

Everytime this thread comes up, I always say the same thing....THE PRINCESS BRIDE.

Hi Sant, :)

Betty Buckley as Jane?

I LIKE IT!!!

I can see a whole musical number "But, Blanche, you ARE stuck in a wheelchair!"

And Bernadette has the right innocence/hidden creepiness for Blanche.

Well, what do you say? Do we call their agents? re: What Famous Movies Should Be Made Into Musicals?
