(Although I'm sure it was based on the BOOK, as opposed to the movie based on the book.)

Would you update musical version of ARSEENIC AND OLD LACE or leave 1940s setting?

This is actually the only work of Shwartz's that I can appreciate. With songs like "Hell Fire" I think a lot of children were out of the loop while the parents were impressed. It's very close to the original novel, yet because it's Disney they still had to throw in those talking gargoyles... ugh...
I think the Ray Liota movie IDENTITY would be a really freaky musical, if not a hilarious flop, then...

How about one of my alltime favorite movies...
BIG FISH
imagine the possibilities! It could be so inventive and original in the way you execute the 'fiction/fantasy' versus 'reality'. I see it as being almost revolutionary in its production.
Anyone find it odd, though, that some of the greatest movies turned musicals were originaly mediocre/crappy movies?
ie: Hairspray, Millie, the Producers, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, etc. I mean, they are not all bad movies, but nothing extrordinary...I commend those who saw the possibilities in these often low budget films and made them awesome musicals!

How could the combined talents of Julie Andrews, Carol Channing AND Mary Tyler Moore produce a poor film?
By the way, Channing was nominated for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in film. So there! :)

And not a movie, but Murder,She Wrote
should also be turned into a mega musical!

A STAR WARS musical...
Might be an expensive proposition to mount (sets, costumes, special effects...) but would definitely have a pre-sold market!
