Gimme, gimme, gimme!....
OH MY GOD!!!
Although I hate to admit it, I seriously do dance around in my underwear to showtunes.
Bye Bye Birdie (the movie soundtrack) is my favorite.
(The Austin Powers soundtrack is good, too, although it's not Broadway. YET!)
THE FULL MONTY
THE LIFE
SWEENEY TODD (hard to dance to, but necessary sometimes)
"I wash my face, then drink beer, then I weep. Say a prayer and induce insincere self-abuse, till I'm fast asleep"- In Trousers
Well, that would be parade, But if Rent goes on, i loose all clothing
I start out with my clothes on but when Judge Turpin sings Johanna in Sweeney Todd my clothes come off and I flog myself.... I have danced to many many cast recording in my underwear, but I can't think of one specific one off the top of my head...
Good to know, Bob. Good to know.
(remind me to never enter Bob's house if I can hear "Santa Fe" playing from the curb)
I've got to admit that I did a bit of optimistic spinning around the living room sans clothing to The Wizard and I, earlier this afternoon.

This reminds me of a quote from Rob Bartlett.....
"If it weren't for you true blue devotees helping to spread the gospel of Kander and Ebb... We'd all be dancing around in our underwear at home. Fun, yes, but not nearly as satisfying."
Just thought I'd share

THE FULL MONTY!
Come on, it's only appropriate to dance around in your undies during Let It Go!
I only dance when I get to the part in A Chorus Line that says, "I used to dance around the living room," and then I dance around the living room.
another fun thing to do with Judge Turpin's Johanna rendition is to play it while you watch C-SPAN on mute. if you've had enough cocktails, it'll appear to sync up, which is appopriate considering the old letches they usually have on that network. i once found a way to incorporate a kickline into that song after the obligatory rhythmical flogging.
one constant, however, Turpin's "Johanna" is NEVER appropriate to sing at a wedding or quote during a toast.

BroadwayMatt, that is brilliantly funny.
Btw, that's the second time I've seen the verb "flog" in a post tonight.
What is this word?
Why do I not know it?
stupid computer...sorry
"I wash my face, then drink beer, then I weep. Say a prayer and induce insincere self-abuse, till I'm fast asleep"- In Trousers
literally, to flog is to beat severely with a whip or rod.
figuratively, it can also be the act of slandering or criticizing something publicly, like a bad review. the word tends to pop up a lot in British musicals.
i love this thread! the media never gives enough attention to the fact that underwear and showtunes just go together.
