I'll be in New York this weekend and am planning on seeing Finian's Rainbow, Memphis, and Superior Donuts. I can fit in one more show and I'd like to see a play. Anyone have any recommendations? Broadway or off-Broadway. Thanks!

Personally I liked God of Carnage, but I think I would have liked it a lot more if I was over 40 and married.

I loved God of Carnage. A Steady Rain was also good, but a bit slow for my liking.
I am shilling The Emperor Jones at The Irish Rep! Saw it last night, it is awesome!
Tickets weren't available for RAIN until November when I checked about a month ago. I bet the whole run is sold out at the point.
CARNAGE is very entertaining but, as I've said before, more of a showcase for four great performances than anything else. Its not a great play but its certainly very enjoyable. With the slim-pickins in terms of plays thus far this season, I'd recommend CARNAGE though.
I'm seeing Brighton Beach Memoirs this weekend, myself. Heard nice things, and it is a great script. Have also heard good things about The Royal Family, which has a killer cast. And both are probably easier to get tickets to than Carnage or Rain...
I would recommend trying something Off-Broadway. I haven't felt that any of the plays on Broadway right now are anything spectacular. You can usually get some great deals on Off-Broadway plays at TKTS, and most of them have student or general rush policies.
Brighton Beach Memoirs is simply fantastic. The script, though a tad dated at the seams, is sharp and clever and Cromer has assembled a fantastic company. I anticipate great reviews and strong word of mouth - enough to keep this production alive for a while. If you haven’t seen the “old” staples from last season, Carnage, Billy, and Hair are all exceptional. One thing to stress when choosing a play or musical: avoid the Bird! Also, I wouldn't sweat the Rain either.
BTW: How was The Emperor Jones SNAFU? Dying to see it and buying tickets this weekend (after a stop at the Walter Kerr, of course).

Play, it was GREAT! Intense stuff. John Douglas Thompson is absolutely riveting as Brutus Jones. He grabs the audience by the throat and drags them down into his deconstructing madness. Ciaran O'Rielly has managed to bring this show to life in a thrilling manner....
Plus the puppets and masks are pretty cool, even if I do say so myself! :)
"The Royal Family" just to see the amazing Rosemary Harris.
