Mom said I could pick two shows for my birthday. I guess it's a little too early to pick since it's in late May, but these are the ones I am most interested in and why:
American Idiot - I grew up with Green Day music.
Come Fly Away - I missed Burn The Floor when it was here and this is somewhat close to it right?
Enron - I was too young to remember what happened so this could be a good history lesson.
Hair - History lesson and I love Diana DeGarmo
In The Heights - It's my favorite musical that I never saw. Haha! The music seems amazing.
Next To Normal - Those purple eyes just seems to hook me in. And the music is very nice.
Promises, Promises - Kristen Chenoweth
The Addams Family - It would be a new experience
Wicked - I saw it with Victoria Matlock and Christina DeCicco, but I want to see it again just becuase of Mandy and Katie Rose.

With Promises, Promises as third choice.

If you don't get to see B'way shows often....why see something a second time when there is so much to see that you haven't? So, that being said, take Wicked OFF your list.
Come Fly Away -- NOT like Burn the Floor. There is a story line and meaning. You didn't miss ANYTHING with Burn the Floor. I still want those two hours of my life back.
N2N doesn't have "nice" music. It is powerful and intense. An experience unlike any other on your list.
Hair is a great insight to a turbulent time in our history -- from a very slanted perspective (I'm not saying right or wrong). It, too, is moving. (Obviously, I can't speak to the new cast....but should still be strong.) Diane Paulus' direction is stupendous. (I never like Hair until this production.)
The advance word on Addams Family is not great.
Enron (on my list too)
American Idiot-- seems to be a love it or hate it kind of show from the buzz out of Berkely, but I cannot speak from personal experience....yet.

Oh ok, like Drunk said, most shows you ask about have recently either started previews or haven't opened at all.
I would definitely skip Wicked(not worth seeing again with so many shows you haven't already seen) and N2N(I hated it)

Next to Normal & Hair. (3rd choice is Enron)
I think N2N and Hair will balance off pretty well. As dramamama stated, Next to Normal will give you an experience like no other, it truly is an amazazing show that doesn't dissapoint.
And Hair is just overall fun. You won't regret it. :)

BUMP:
So my mom said that I'm most likely seeing Next To Normal. But she also said that it will be the only show I will for my birthday. UGH! I guess, I'll try to see the others by rush. Can anyone tell me the rush or student ticket prices for all shows? Thanks!

BWW collects the info here:

...and updates it, I believe, weekly.
Playbill does the same here:

Enjoy and good luck!

Posted: 3/11/10 at 4:25pmMy top two choices would be Next to Normal and In the Heights. Heights lotto hasn't been too bad and they have been offering discounts to the losers.

Posted: 3/11/10 at 4:45pmlegally_popular: Have you ever lottoed In The Heights? How much do the loser tickets usually cost? I don't care that much about where the seats would be becuase I don't think there really is a bad seat in Richard Rodgers Theatre.

I have regularly lottoed and during the coldest and most deserted winter days the lotto loser tickets went for $41.50 for rear orchestra seats - almost all of them are excellent seats and sight lines. I've been a few times where they offered loser tickets for $46.50, same places.
Out of the shows you listed, I would say Next to Normal, Hair and In the Heights all equally are my tops picks for various reasons. All are great shows!

This. I went on a Sunday matinee last month and it was a gorgeous day, though cold. I would say there were about 30-40 people and there's 22 tickets. The losers got rear orch seats for $41.50. (this is for In the Heights, btw).
I'm not sure if Next to Normal still offers lotto loser discounts for around $40 for rear orch/partial view - can anyone confirm that?
#17What Should I See?

Come Fly Away -- NOT like Burn the Floor. There is a story line and meaning. You didn't miss ANYTHING with Burn the Floor. I still want those two hours of my life back.
I felt the complete opposite way. I saw Burn the Floor 3 times, and loved it each time. It was good choreography that didn't claim to be anything else. It wasn't trying to disguise itself as a knock-off piece of theatre. It was a dance show and nothing else. Come Fly Away on the other hand tries to be important. And it's just not. Don't waste your time with it.
P.S. See Enron.

Posted: 4/5/10 at 10:08pmAmerican Idiot has a semi-challenging student lotto for $27 front row seats. But if you lose that, they offer you $37 side orchestra "partial-view" tickets that are, from what I've heard, barely partial. It's also the best new show on Broadway. As someone who grew up with Green Day, you should definitely check out this new perspective on their music and on musical theatre as a whole.

Enron! Great story that uses techno music, cool dancing, light sabers, raptors, barbershop quartets, and huge video of semi-recent historical events we all remember (think Clinton's Monica speech, OJ trial, 9/11, etc) to tell it.
For a second choice I would pick either Hair (definitely one of the most fun experiences I've had at a show) or In The Heights.

Posted: 4/6/10 at 5:54pmPromises, Promises and Come Fly Away. First, Kristen Chenoweth. Enough said. She's a musical power house that I'm absolutely dying to someday see live. Second, I saw Movin' Out when it was on Broadway and it's just such an amazing experience. So moving and it's just a completely different side of theater that isn't seen that often or even appreciated quite as much - dance. And I love it when dance tells a story. So yah, my suggestions :)
