I've seen people sleeping there, and nobody got stopped. But, I got in trouble in Port Authority once for sitting next to a wall to use my cell phone.
Calvin, the thing is is that they shut down the waiting areas as it gets late to clean them. Therefor, yes, you're right, you can sleep there without a problem. However, let's say you're coming home after a late night out and you have a good long while to wait for you're train. You're out of luck.
If you're the train, I don't see what the problem is.
MARIANNE,
Don't go to the Carter it is full of rat's, call girls and call boys. You would be safer in a homeless shelter that the Hotel Carter the worst hotel on earth.
Winston, if the trains are not running due to the weather, there are going to be a heck of a lot of people stranded there. They are not going to throw you out, nor stop you from sleeping. Jeezus.
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.
Puppies are babies in fur coats.
Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
The call boys make it even more worth it now. Yay!
Ahem, Marianne...
Oh jeez, someone else tell her.
They're gay and the Hotel Carter is where they play.
I can't tell if it's sarcasm or if people missed the
after Marianne's mention of the Carter. lol
Telecharge does have the notice up that all shows will go on as scheduled, but I notice that ALNM, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Lion King, Next to Normal, Billy Elliott, and others don't have shows listed tomorrow night. There wasn't some strange decision to reschedule Wednesday night shows for Valentine's day evening performances before the storm, was there?
I was all excited to maybe get a good seat at ALNM tomorrow if people couldn't show!

If I wasn't worried about the LIRR being down I would be all over this ticket but since I can't chance it, for all my fellow Wicked fans:
There's a
Row EE Center Orchestra, seat 102 Ticket available for tomorrow's matinee.
Usually: $250
For sale: $110 (probably due to all the cancellations.)
Hopefully someone can enjoy it...
Next to Normal is always dark on Wednesdays. I don't know about the other shows.
Sauja - Next to Normal doens't perform on Wednesdays. Lion King and Billy Elliot only do matinees. A Little Night Music and West Side Story are doing Sunday evening performances instead of Wednesday evening this week to take advantage of Valentine's Day. And according to Telecharge and Ticketmaster, Jersey Boys and Wicked are still on sale for tomorrow night.
I just scored a half price Billy Elliot at Seaport TKTS for tomorrow matinee. Was shocked to get J-105-- 10th Row Center Orchestra. If they cancel it, I'll kill someone.
Meanwhile is this snow more certain than the 6" one we were "definitely" getting the other day?
Thanks Theaterguy. I feel a bit dim now but appreciate the response!
I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying that the shows are adding performances for Valentine's Day when the long weekend is because of President's Day.

If you don't mind hostel conditions (dormitory sleeping arrangments and shared bathrooms), I'm told the Hotel Gershwin on East 27th Street is okay.

A View from the Bridge was added on TDF, with the note:
DUE TO the impending inclement weather, THESE SEATS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE LAST MINUTE. As always, THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS or EXCHANGES. In addition, NO PAST-DATING REQUESTS will be considered by the theatre's management.

I find it wonderfully amusing that Corine2 is intimately familiar with the comings and goings at the Hotel Carter. It just confirms what I've always suspected!
I'm glad I don't have to go into the city for a show on Wednesday. cancellation or not, it will suck getting there
Well for those of us who are within walking distance to the district I'm really hoping it snows a lot so I can get some good seats at something last minute!
taylor, you don't even have to wait -- well, now you do. As I mentioned I got a great seat at TKTS today for Billy Elliot tomorrow, and the woman in front of me got two excellent half price seats for A View From the Bridge there too for tomorrow's matinee.
I suspect TKTS will have great seats tomorrow since they did today for tomorrow.
Yes, I would be buying tickets tonight but I'm waiting to see who is on as Billy.
sadly; unlike this past Saturday's storm where NYC only saw about 3 inches instead of the predicted 6-8; NYC and most of New Jersey will see over a foot of snow tomorrow. Most schools have already announced they'll be closed and I know of a few people whose jobs' have told them they'll be closed as well. Looks like we'll see a lot of snow tomorrow.
