^^^WOW. Wish I could make it into the city tomorrow. also wish I was still a student.
Also, due to Valentine's Day, some shows have altered their schedule for the week. Some shows normally don't play on Wednesdays at all and offer the Sunday/Monday evening shows instead.
No shows tomorrow: In The Heights, Next 2 Normal, Chicago, Rock of Ages.
Only matinees: West Side Story, Night Music, Lion King, Billy Elliot.
Only evenings: Fela!, Mamma Mia!, Present Laughter, Mary Poppins.

I don't think shows would get canceled unless there was like an official state of emergency
Is it 15 inches and then the trains can't run??
ACL2006, I don't think that the shows that are altering schedules are doing so because of Valentine's Day. I think that they are doing it because of President's Day which is considered to be a long weekend for most people.
Man I would love to be in the city tomorrow to have my pick of shows to see. Have fun everyone!

Things may have changed, but in the '90's blizzard, snow was considerably deeper than that and the trains kept running - don't know about the above-ground lines, though. MTA seems to handle snow better than rain.
I was listing to CBS 880 news the other day and they were talking about the trains with regards to the snow planned for today. They said that as far as The Long Island Rail Road was concerned, they would close down some lines if there was ten inches of snow on the ground, they never stated which ones but the way they worded it gave the impression that they would start to do that with the train lines that get the least number of customers and then go on from there if need be.
I don't think that I ever recalled The MTA talking about shutting down the LIRR due to bad conditions outside.
mm yes they have Winston. Long Island got 27 inches of snow in a storm not too long ago- LIRR was shut down
I’m not complaining, but since my firm called a snow day today, I just have this to offer: next week would have been a MUCH better week for one to have a snow day (for a theater-lover at least). The reasons, of course, are the much opening of three (though I would say two) very anticipated or already established productions: “Behanding,” “Miracle,” and “Next Fall.” To be able to have seen “Behanding” and “Next Fall” today would have been fantastic!
Again, not complaining…just sayin’.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore is canceled tonight.

Most shows allow exchanges in cases like this, and I just looked out my window and this looks like one of those cases. It happened to me once years ago for "The King and I".
If you're already in town go and and wear good boots, if not stay put.
