Aww, I loved the hat. What a sap I am.
Just had the most scathingly brilliant idea!
Replace Applegate with Jackman. I'll sit through both acts if they do that.

The "musical director/director" of this years TONY telecast should be run out of the business, dreadful!
MOVE it out of Radio City Music Hall..if you thought it was bad on TV, just wait until you are sitting in the "theater"...horrible!
Give it to Marc Shaiman next year, let him run with it, he understands music and performing.
The Sweet Charity medley was a CAR CRASH in person (I blame the terrible conductor-TEMPO?!), when you make Tyler Hanes and Co. look like they can't dance it's time to leave the business!
It was in all my years attending the awards, the single WORST production of the Tony awards, it's time for a change, and thanks for the effort Hugh, don't come back next year!

I like the idea of the hat and I'm sure it works at Lincoln Center, but it did not work on the Tonys.

Ahh yes...it is rumored that Julia Stiles has seen part of the movie of "The Sound of Music", therefore qualifying as a theater veteran.

Wow. As usual there were the highlights and low lights. For me, the highlights were Billy Crystal, Watching Norbert win...and Spelling Bee of course.
Since Sara Ramirez won last night, does that mean she'll actually be showing up for work sometime soon?
And what's all the hype around Jackman for? You did two shows-and have 1 Tony. Big damn deal. AND...as much as I LOVE Jesse L. Martin, that performance was pointless...I felt like I was bomabarded with useless filler, which there's no need for cause the show is THREE HOURS! Make it two hours and make it truly entertaining, and justify to the REST of America why B'way is worth $100 Ticket. Jackmans' Slater joke WAS funny though.

I was in the first mezz - was VERY HOT up there (sweating in my tux). Seemed a lot longer than last years, with LOTS of commercials.

I have watched the Tony's for years. This years was by far the worst. Billy Crystal at the beginning was great, but, I am sorry Hugh Jackman was not. His song medley showed his weaknesses as a vocalist and at that moment he came up short as an entertainer. But I can't blame him on that score. The musical numbers were poorly televised. Whoever the camera director was should be shot. They came off terribly on the small screen. There was a lot of talent up there on the stage and in the audience last night, but the Tony's needs a new leader. Someone that can present Broadway at it's best. Broadway has a great history and great life. Last night it was shown as having neither.

Social Dynasty breings up a great point...
The Tony broadcast not only recognizes outstanding work (ok..we'll let them believe that)..but more importantly, it encourages people to come to NYC and to local theaters and spend $100 per ticket to see these shows.
For some reason, I don't hear the cash registers ringing.

Mr Tuttle, exactly! The performances shown on the Tonys did not make me want to rush to New York. It actually made me want to stay right where I am, which is pretty far from NYC.

If Broadway and its producers want to charge outrageous amounts for shows, then they need to prove why they are worth the money.
All last night proved was that Broadway is incapable of producing an evening of quality entertainment.
And that's scary.

I have been dying to see Spamalot and the number they did was so boring. Eric Idle's jacket was funnier.
Tell me, is the show better in the theater?

Yes..Eric's jacket was the highlight. That and Aretha's tribute to BKLYN.
And I completely erased one of the worst moments of the show..
MARIO CANTONE.
Please tell me this will end his career and he will be banished to "The View" gigs.

I'll throw my voice in here: what was with the opening? After last year's energetic and thrilling "One Night Only," I thought this year would have something similar. Instead, we get a half-baked montage that looked embarassingly messy and amateur.

This thread is actually hilarious.
