"I would love to see them go and perform the show instead of sitting on their asses. "
Stupidest. Argument. Ever.

No, this is a good point. The only people qualified to criticize Legally Blonde are its cast members, and they all seem to like the show a great deal.
It's an entertaining couple of hours in the theater, not life-changing but fun. Go get tickets (at the TKTs booth!)

I bet they like it because they get paid
Since when is performing in a show the alternative to liking it?

Posted: 5/9/07 at 10:51am$25 tickets are just fine, except you can see when the greek chorus is coming minutes before because the trap door opens. I saw it, didn't like it, but worth $25 . . . any more and I would have been pissed.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 11:13amAltho- this was not one of my favorite shows, it was definitly worth the money - I shelled out $65.00. I enjoyed myself, but to be honest some of the songs were just not so great and the opening song after intermission was well - very strange! Didn't really vibe well with the show. But the actors and scenery are crisp and I swear I can't get OMIGOD YOU GUYS out of my head.

So you've never criticized or just disliked a show ever? Wow, you're every corporate sponsor's dream!

As Erik said, that's always an asinine argument. It's like saying you can't have an opinion on a meal you didn't prepare or a book you didn't write.
Oh, but it's only a negative opinion that's invalid, right? If you loved the show then you're qualified to voice your thoughts.

I might have said something more along the lines of "I would love to see them *write* something as much fun for the audience instead of etc etc etc". See, that's a challenge. Performing? There are a million out of work actors/singers/dancers in NY, so there's always someone who can perform. But writing? A tad more difficult.

If you liked the fluff, lightness and just pure entertainment of Curtains rc, you'll probably enjoy LB. Like Curtains, LB has a wonderful escapism factor. I don't think the music nor lyrics in LB are nearly as good, nor did I find the performances particulary memorable, (I know you loved Ms. Monk in Curtains, there's nothing like that in LB, IMO) but the show as a whole pie is an enjoyable way to spend a couple hours. I spent $65 on a ticket as well. Personally I wouldn't spend another $65 to see it again, but for a lesser price ticket I can't say I wouldn't either. Empty your head of intelligent thought when you enter the theatre, lock out all the crap going on outside the doors, sit back, relax, and enjoy.

If you like fun, light musicals - you should go!
If you are more of a classic, or dark musical person - you might not like it.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 2:05pmI'm a fan of light musicals (sometimes) and I hated Legally Blonde. I think that most of the songs were written for a five year old. I would say pay for a cheap ticket and see for yourself. It's really not something people can decide for you on a message board. However, you could go on that one sight and probably find clips to see if it is to your liking.
