... isn't it only an "upset" if there's a very strong, almost definite, favorite? If that's the case, there's not potential for one in every category.
I'm sad that Evans seems to be off the radar, too. I wish he had a chance of winning.
(Go team Esparza.)

I think In the Heights will walk away empty handed, which is unfortunate, since its score is pleasant enough and its dancing is quite good. However, I think Passing Strange will pull off an Avenue Q. Personally, I don't care who wins Best Musical, Score, Book, etc. but I think Passing Strange will pull some upsets tomorrow night.
I for one would like the Best Actor upset to be Tom Wopat. He's truly stunning in A Catered Affair, but Szot's singing is beautiful and I'll gladly applaud for him when he wins tomorrow night.
Anyway- Go LuPone, Benanti and Gaines!

That would leave the following shows with their corresponding amount of awards (all others with one):
IN THE HEIGHTS: 3
SOUTH PACIFIC: 5
GYPSY: 2
AUGUST OSAGE COUNTY: 6
BOEING-BOEING: 2
THE HOMECOMING: 1
CRY-BABY: 1
THE LITTLE MERMAID: 1
LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES: 1
THE 39 STEPS: 1
XANADU: 1
The only thing I'm predicting is that Cyrano gets Best Costume Design for a Play. Anything else I say would be wishful thinking.

I am very excited about tonight. The awards could and may go any which way. I am hoping for a lot of upsets tonight, although I am not holding my breath. It will be a good night. Especially if Sunday in the Park pulls some upsets. :)
Last night, I dreamed that Jenna Russell got Best Actress in a Musical. I wouldn't bring it up, only if it *does* happen, I want it to go on record that I had a prophetic (pathetic? ) dream. ^_^
And if Rylance wins, we are gonna be in for one hell of a speech...
Which is precisely why I'm praying to Stephen that he wins.

I was wrong in two categories last year (I thought Raul Esparza and Martha Plimpton were going to win). I don't think I will do as well this year as more categories are competitive.

The design categories are most subjective, they're all terrific, and tough to choose, but South Pacific is as close to perfect as I have ever seen.
South Pacific's sets are very effective, but I think the stunning and innovative Sunday ones will win. They certainly should. South Pacific will win all the other design categories though.

How is the South Pacific lighting? I really think In The Heights will grab that one. Since the SITPWG effects are set, Lighting is wide open. In The Heights Lighting is truly amazing!
