What character would you be best playing in a musical and why?

What character would you be best playing in a musical and why? This does NOT mean which character would you like to play best.

Penny Pingleton from Hairspray .Truth be told, I could be her soo well. The seoncd I saw her, I knew that was my part. I kept my eye on her every move and I could not tell you more how she manages herself *and her gum-lol* is exactly like me. She played such an awkward but sorta dorky kinda girl! I tell you- she acted so me..so me I tell you! It was like I could have been up there doing the same thing without being trained…like my natural self sadly enough. I can’t act for my life but damn- I sware that role was made in honor of me. j/k but on a serious note- if I could fit in any part of any musical- her part would be it! I RUV Penny Lou Pingleton!

Your turn!
People like you are the reason I'm on medication.

At the moment (as in: before I get another day older), Marius in Les Miz. It's been my dream role for years and way too many people keep telling me I need to play it. I guess that's a sign. I'd also love to be Percy in The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I'm not a very good singer, but I'm improving, and I think that if I ever got good enough I think that for some reason I'd make a good Joanne, or *maybe* even Mimi.

Oh, and I'd love to play Magenta from Rocky Horror! I've got a good voice for the part, and I was Magenta for Halloween last year so I've got experience; hehe.

For me, it would be Chava in Fiddler on The Roof. I played the part last summer and loved every moment. There was just something different about the character from all the others I have played. It just felt so right.

I was cast as Hodel in Fiddler and for some reason it has just clicked. This is going to be my best show by far.

Mary Poppins.
I've been obsessed with that movie since I was three... I think she's the perfect blend of a "character" character and a sort of "normal" character. She has her sort of crazy moments (as do I when I'm hyper), but (at least in the movie) she also has some more serious moments as well. And from the clips I've seen/heard online, MP is pretty close to my range. Maybe a little high, but I can get there...

Ever since I first listened to RENT and saw pictures from it I knew I could be Mark. I look so much like him and have a good voice for his kind of character. I bought the RENT Karaoke CD just so I could sing Halloween over, and over, and over, and over again. re: What character would you be best playing in a musical and why?

I would also be really interested in being Princton and Rod in Avenue Q if I learned how to be a puppeteer! I alway sing along with the OBCR! re: What character would you be best playing in a musical and why?

Probably Maureen in RENT because I have a very powerful, rock and roll voice and I can be very crazy/loud/reckless. Or Elphaba because I probably spent most of my middle school years being the misunderstood, "weird", loner/girl who refused to follow the trend of abercrombie that was sweeping the school. :-P

I'd probably be Kate Monster before Princeton came to Avenue Q because I have yet to find my "Princeton" lol, but I'm personality wise, similar to her.

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I'd proboably be Maureen in RENT. I couldn't really explain exactly why, I think it's just her personality, but when I saw the show I decided I wanted that part.

Eponine... the range is perfect for me, and I love the part. I auditioned for this part at my school, but I didn't get it... but that's okay. I loved singing the song and I based my singing off of Lea Salonga.

Ado Annie... it's so much fun to play and I just love the revival version. I think it's a great part, and it was my favorite part the first time I saw Oklahoma!

Both of these I think would be my best performances... the range is right there, and I think that I could try and relate to both characters. They are very different, but both would be individually fun to play.

re: What character would you be best playing in a musical and why?

No character really comes to mind that would seem ideal for me. I think acting/character wise I could pull off a really good John from Miss Saigon, but I have neither the looks nor the voice.

Once I get older I can really see myself playing Daddy Warbucks in Annie, or even right now as Joseph in JATATD. I think I definitely have the looks and acting required for him, but I might have some trouble with the higher notes.

i'm with you kangaroo, i'd definately do Eponine. i'm right at her range, i know all her parts and i sing them each time i go karaokeing. lol i love the longing and the emotions from unrequited love in her voice since i live it all the time!

other than that i'd have to go with christine from phantom because i love the score and she's like a fantasy come true with all the hot guys after her! who wouldn't want that?

re: What character would you be best playing in a musical and why?

I'm princeton/ rod.
As soon as the obcr came out, i listened and realized that one day, whether on broadway, or in some obscure community theatre, I would play those two characters, because I was BORN to play them.

J. Pierrepont Finch in H2$.
The character just fits me. Vocally, physically and it's one helluva role.
