He didn't really do anything for me in EVITA - I didn't think he was great, I didn't think he was bad - he was just kind of there.
I saw him in NINE four times, and the first time I saw it I left that theatre moved in a way that I had never been moved before by a musical. I think he is a brilliant, brilliant, criminally underrated actor who has yet to really get a big Oscar worthy on-screen role. His voice is gorgeous, and I thought he was brilliant in every sense of the word in NINE.
And yes, he absolutely was robbed of a Tony Award - Harvey Fierstein did not deserve that award for his "performance."
