She had a pretty solid stint going for a while, "Urinetown," Encores' "Of Thee I Sing," "Little Fish," and "Wicked." But, I haven't heard anything since then. Is she working on something, on hiatus, or what?

That's right, I had forgotten she had a kid.
I enjoyed her in Urinetown and Little Fish, but I found her quite lackluster in Wicked. She looked bored when I saw her.

It's wicked. the only ones at wicked who AREN'T bored are the nutjob fans in the audience with badly painted green faces and pointy hats who cry when elphaba dies and think that elphaba is a rock star and the show is actually good. all of these things, however, we know to be false.
Ok wait...back up. People actually paint their faces green when they go to see wicked? Jesus it's reached CATS level. One of the scariest things I ever saw was when I was working the bar during a Tour of cats and I saw not only kids but people old enough (and fat enough) to know better, wearing spandex cat costumes and full blown makeup and wigs.
I'm scared.
I actually was not fond of JLT in Wicked either. Thought she was fabulous in Urinetown though.
I think she'd be a riot in Spamalot as Lady of the Lake.

See, I really liked her as Glinda...but that was just me.

She was my absolute favorite Glinda. I don't know WHY you were bored.
And yes, she is being a mommy
I didn't see her as Glinda, but I did see her several times in URINETOWN, both off and on Broadway. Early in the run she was fabulous, but her later performances were marked with a distinct feeling of boredom: she mumbled or raced through her lines and in some instances visibly dropped character before she was even off the stage.
I loved her as Glinda.
She was my first Glinda. :-]

She was my second, I saw Cheno, and Cheno spent a lot of time trying to upstage Idina. And, truth be told, had it not been for JLT, I would have left "Wicked" the second time I saw it.
I agree with HuskCharmer and Actor. The only reason I went to see WICKED at all was because of Thompson. She was amazing in URINETOWN, so that was enough to get me to the Gershwin.

Her "baby Daddy" is her husband.
She does smaler, shorter things now, while still focusing on motherhood. She did a reading of Grey Gardens at PH, Of Thee I Sing! at Encores and the Little Fish concert at Joe's Pub. She's extremely talented, and I hope she returns to the theatre full-time someday.

JLT was pretty freakin' funny as Glinda. I thought she added a lot to the role.
I saw her as Glinda, and I thought she gave a fantastic performance. I love her on the Urinetown recording as well.
I hope she is able to get back into theatre soon.

Thompson's performance as Glinda has become the basis for the character in the USA, rather than Chenoweth's. Chenoweth was good in the role, but really rather forgettable. I didn't see Thompson's performance, but from what I've heard/read in interviews, she reimagined the character.
The situation is similar to when Michael Ball stepped in as Fosco in London. Crawford's performance was scrapped from memory, basically, and all other Foscos based their performance in some way on Ball's.
I am sure that she will return soon enough, but I think her family is the number one thing on her list right now.
I loved her as Glinda and can't wait to see what her next theatre roll might be, if she does indeed return to the stage.
I also was lucky enough to catch her in a guest role on an episode of Law and Order:SVU this past weekend. Her role was chilling - much different than her Glinda persona
I'd love to see her replace Ebersole. Not saying I don't like Christine, just when she leaves.

She actually performed the role of Act I Little Edie, not Ebersole's.

THANKSTOPHANTOM...I really find that hard to believe.
Chenoweth was forgettable? Come again.
Skingdom out.

What YankeeFan said. I think she's too old to play Little Edie and not old enough to play the dual role. There was a thread on this last year, I believe.
