At first I was just in a production of Beauty and the Beast over the summer for fun and I fell in love with theatre!
and Nathan Lane of course!

Seeing four Broadway shows on my first trip to New York. Something just clicked... I had a bit of an A Chorus Line moment: "I can do that!"
Of course, I had done community theatre for about three years before that, but never with any serious intentions.

Posted: 12/13/06 at 12:01pmI always liked singing and stuff, but what got me into theatre was seeing a high school production of Hello Dolly. The cast was great and seeing as it was my first show that I actually wanted to go see it left a good impression. (I had also been dragged along to see the Music Man, because my friend was Winthrop and also Grease, but I was younger then and not really into theatre).

I was always too fat for film/print/TV.
Even if I starve and workout down to the bone, I still have a huge frame.

It looked like fun.
Mind you, I was in fifth grade and we were doing The Little Mermaid and I decided that "Hey! I'm going to go and try out for this!" And there you have it.
I also think my mom influenced me in a sense, because I was brought up to appreciate musical theatre [and theatre in general] at an early age.

In 5th grade I played Lewis in Lewis and Clark: The Musical (we wrote it, haha.) and loved it. I got into a performing arts middle school and than high school and realized that nothing in the world matches the feeling I get when performing, and that I'm pretty talented.
Yeppers.
And sometimes I'll see a show on Broadway, or watch the Tonys and have this moment of "I have to be a part of that world."

When I found out that you have to be very good at handling small objects in order to be a dentist.
But, seriously, I do love this business.

John Lloyd Young because of the fact that he never gave up on his dream of being an actor and he finally landed on Broadway with Jersey Boys and won the Tony for it. I hope to be like him one day, maybe not exactly, but have somethings in common.
I consider him my role model/idol/hero

When I was four, and I went to my first full length show ever (Peter Pan a the Paper Mill), I just sat through the whole show with my jaw practically on the floor in amazement. I knew from then on that I had to be in the theatre even if I was only four.
The theatre greats like Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters also inspire me. Oh and Sondheim too.

My story is a little...interesting.
One day, I was tired of listening to the music I was listening to. I had only gotten into it because it was what my friends liked. So I went to Barnes & Noble, picked up the OCR of Rent, and fell in love. I soon saw it, and bought a slew of other OCRs. I knew I had to be doing something like this.
I'm stil working on the whole talent aspect of it.
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

The Original Inspiration: Jodi Benson, I wanted to be a singer from the first moment I heard "Part of Your World", and when I learned she also did Broadway-it all clicked.
More recently: Stephanie J. Block-the best soprano belt voice around. Clear as a bell, and her dedication and focus during a show is amazing. I hope to be half as talented as she is.
