What is Fuerzabruta?

I've read some things about this show, but nothing I've found has been very clear in describing what type of show it is.
Is it good?
Are there any rush tickets? What is the cheapest way to get seats?
Thanks so much!

It truly is indescribable. It's beautiful. Truly.
I didn't see De LaGuarda, but to its credit I hear d it was even more incredible. But FuerzaBruta is DEFINITELY worth seeing. However, get ready to get wet, REALLY wet.

JUST SAW IT FOR THE 2nd TIME TONIGHT!
I just got home... my toes are wet.
I don't know how else to describe this show other than GO! GO NOW! There are plenty of discounts online.
This isn't experiencing theatre.
It's a theatrical experience.
The long and the short: A mass of people, standing in a dark room, while incredible combination of acrobatics, aerialists, swimming, dancing, music, group interaction, lights and sound SURROUND you.
A truly communal and tribal evening. Leave your expectations at the door and go in ready to embrace FEELING and SEEING things you never could have imagined. It's dreamlike. It's transportive.
And if you let yourself go... I mean REALLY let yourself go, you'll never forget it.
GO!
GO NOW!
I plan to see it at least ONE MORE TIME this year.
Bring friends.

You really can't describe Fuerzabruta, you have to experience it for yourself. And oh man, what an experience it is.
And they do sell general rush tickets, I believe it is 2 hours before the performance. And you don't have to worry about "seats."

Posted: 9/18/08 at 10:05amI saw De La Guarda in London and it was one of the most thrilling theatrical performances I've ever witnessed. Why hasn't it played in Vegas or Chicago? Anyway, I'm hoping to see Fuerzabruta in December if it is still running.

Those photos are really just the tip of the iceberg.
I need to emphasize how the COMBINATION of sight, sound, feel, smell and community helps create the ENTIRE experience.
Some of my most favorite scenes aren't even in those photos; like the awesome choreography (as they're smashing apart the apartment) and slamming things on the audience-members' heads. Plus, dancing in the rain with George Washington as DJ!

I saw it last December and had a blast! And I danced with the cute guy in the white suite at the end after he shook water from his hair all over me!!! If you can go with someone, I would think it would be more fun. Especially for the dancing portion of the show at the end. A fun evening! I also bought the CD after the show.

Posted: 9/18/08 at 2:46pmI saw it in London in 2006, and those pictures look like what I saw... so I am assuming its pretty much the same. It was so different and exciting from anything else I have seen. It's not even worth trying to describe- just go see it!

If I'm gonna stand for an hour and a half, I at least want a railing to lean against.

Posted: 9/18/08 at 3:22pmNo railings! But you will be moved around the room during the show by staff members. Things happen all around the room. The time flies. Your legs don't get tired. There are benches to sit on before the show against the walls. They also have "boys Night" where, I hear, there are men in the "aquarium".

Yea, the standing seems like it would be annoying. When I first got to the show my initial reaction was "I have to stand?". And being the lazy bitch that I am, I was annoyed.
BUT, it was honestly no big deal. You get so lost in the show and moving around that it feels much more like a walk through museum- looking at art, than it feels like standing still during a play.

That was my mother's attitude upon seeing De La Guarda during the hottest summer London had in decades. She was hot and tired and was ready to bail out when she discovered there were no seats. Then the show started and to this day, she recounts the experience as nothing less than miraculous. She believes (as do I) that sitting in seats during the performance would completely destroy the experience. These shows are not about watching a performance, but about being a part of the performance. It is not audience participation, but audience incorporation. Unique, beautiful, primal, intelligent, artistic, original, entertaining and unforgettable.

Posted: 9/18/08 at 3:49pmIt is not like you are standing in one spot craning your neck to watch things happening above you. You are constantly moved around, and once the show starts going, you might forget that you are even standing in the first place because the show just takes your mind off of everything around you.

I went to the Boys' Night on July 4th. I got so wet, if I went again (and I'm tempted) I think I might just get down to my Speedos!
Oh, and Joel Grey was in the audience that night.
