I was thinking Sardi's but i dont think its kid friendly. I may be wrong. I am also trying to stay away from Chains such as Bubba Bump and Planet Hollywood. I prefer it to be in close walking distance to Time Square. Thx! The ages of kids range from 9 to 15.
Vynl (52nd and 9th) or Say Cheeze (54th and 9th).
Virgil's BBQ
Juniors
Edison Cafe
You could go to Junior's which is right in Shubert Alley. It's about as family friendly as you get without being a "chain" restaurant.

Ellen's Stardust is always a good family option

There's an italian restaurant that's actually quite old with very beautiful architecture.
The prices are quite reasonable for that part of town and the food's pretty excellence. I think the kids will like it (kids like pizza right?).
I believe it was on 8th and 43rd, but i'm not sure of the name or location. give me a sec...
Didn't you ask this question a few months ago? And didn't the same restaurants pop up as answers?
I second Vynl.
JUNIORS ROCKS!!!!!!
...and it's right in the heart of the action!
ENJOY!!!!

Vynl? Maybe if your kid is a screaming little queen.....
Junior's is great.. as is Bubba's and Planet Hollywood. Ellen's Stardust would be great I'd say... singing waitstaff and very retro.. the kids would have a blast.

Virgil's BBQ is my absolute favorite restaurant in the known universe. Every time I'm in New York, it's my go-to spot for an amazing dinner. I'm counting down the days until August when I come to NY again, and Virgil's will be there waiting for me.
John's Pizzeria on 44th and 8th is great great great.
Is that where you're referring to, ben4?
i actually did but i forgot, silly me sry, i am actually doing this for my mother, i am considering virgils BBQ for her

I think so Littly sally. It sounds right.
John's Pizzeria on 44th Street. Good service, and the food is very inexpensive.

See that's like 3 people endorsing John's Pizzeria.... How can you go wrong?
I 2nd Ellen's Stardust diner, it's fun with the singing waiters/waitresses (even customers occasionally). Reasonable prices on typical diner food.
Or try, it is directly across the street from Mamma Mia if I remember correctly:

Another vote for John's Pizzeria here- love that place!
And, I don't have kids, but I would never subject anyone to Ellen's Stardust Diner- worst. service. ever.
I'll add my name to the list of John's supporters. You'll often find me there between shows on a Sunday.
Avoid Stardust unless you want to wait 2 hours for bad service and food poisoning.
I've never had a problem with Ellen's Stardust. (Well, there was one problem but that's a different story) The food is okay, very typical diner food, but it's fun with all of the music.
I would say Dallas BBQ...I forgot where it was in Times Square. It was somewhere between W 41st and W 45th. The prices were cheap and the food wasn't that bad; however, we had terrible service. Despite the restaurant being empty, they stuck 5 of us at a small table in an isolated corner and the service was extremely slow.
I have never waited to be seated at Ellen's.
There used to be this great place near Colony Records.. I think it was like the Time Square Diner or something. I usually do not eat in Time Square anymore. I am obsessed with Sammy's Noodle Shop down hear Greenwich Village so I go there.... but anyway... The Time Square Diner or something had the best MAC and CHEESE made w/ like five cheeses and it was so good.
Of course, if HOJO's was still open
JRybka- you like mac & cheese- have you ever been to S'Mac in Union Square? Mmmm...I haven't been there in a while, might have to swing by for dinner tonight.

I always like Joe Allen's. A great place for star sightings. Sat next to Harvey Fierstein last time I was there. And the foods good too!

Ollie's Noodles is really good too, if you like Chinese food. It's affordable and pretty family friendly - I used to eat there all the time with my parents when I was younger. I think its on 44th and Broadway
