Hmmm --- it really all depends on what you're looking for. If we're using Mama Rose as the female counterpart then my vote would have to go to either Albin/ZaZa or Sweeney for the sheer melodramatic, often larger than life aspect. Not to mention the strong vocal and physical demands of both. Just my opinion.

albin is not a hard role vocally at all. georges is more difficult in the show and even that is an easy role to sing.
marvin definitely belongs on this list.

Posted: 3/31/05 at 11:06amPlaying the Phantom is a bummer. You spend more time in the make-up chair than you do on stage - it's been stated that he is actually on stage for less than 35 minutes. And then when he is on stage, half his face is covered!
