Have not heard much about it, has any one here checked it out. If so, how was it?
In my thinking David Greenspan is an acquired taste. If you've liked him, The Patsy is him at his best. I was less enthusiastic about Jonas.
If you are looking to try something new, go see this.
I'd never seen Mr. Greenspan perform before and was pretty well bowled over by his charm. The text of THE PATSY, as you may have read, could kindly be described as "dusty," but the gusto with which Mr. Greenspan feasts upon it, making what must be a physically and mentally draining 75 minutes look effortless and smooth, distills the melodrama and class comedy into something that transcends the words on the page. His 9 characterizations (including "himself" as a meta-prologos) are quite married to one another in style and tone, but the specificity with which he colors in their disparate physicalities is rather marvelous. The culmulative effect is, at times, a little disorienting. At times, you may feel like you're 4 or 5 seconds behind him, but as long as you remain engaged -- and it would be a task, methinks, not to -- you can trust him to carry you along.
My TDF ticket was $28.50. It was quite a bargain.
I did not see JONAS.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw his "Go Back to Where you are", while the performances were quite good, I did not love the show, nor did I hate it. His new works sounds interesting, was on the fence about seeing it though maybe I will just grab a ticket on TDF.
How did you not see "Jonas?" Is it only at certain performances or did you just leave after intermission?
David Greenspan is one of the greatest theatrical treasures in New York, but he's been striking out for me lately.
The Patsy was good. I never had trouble telling who was talking, but I had no idea why so much effort was being given to such a slight play. The idea of having him play everyone was cool, but it didn't serve any purpose other than showing how great Greenspan is.
As for Jonas, it was totally unintelligible. I had no idea what was happening the whole time.

RippedMan, Jonas is performed on select nights as a double feature with The Patsy. (Jonas is 35 minutes, Patsy is 75)
JONAS is performed Friday-Sunday. You have the option to see THE PATSY only ($39), THE PATSY and JONAS ($45), or JONAS only ($20).
Greenspan is a *very* acquired taste, I would say. And I haven't acquired it. He grates my last nerve.
