Hey TX!
Where did you see FAIRY TALES? I did it here in NYC at both the Duplex and the WPA Theatre. This is the one by Eric Lane Barnes, right?

#1 - And the World Goes 'Round
although I saw a production in Chicago where they attempted to link the songs with a storyline. That was just wrong.

that's the one, ROBBIE. i've seen it in Chicago and Houston. Houston also had the followup revue, FRUIT COCKTAIL (it may have premiered there). i've got a FAIRY TALES recording of some cast that i bought in the lobby in Chicago...wonder if you're on it?!?!?
i like PUTTING IT TOGETHER as well.

There was never a recording of the NY cast, which is a shame. The man who sings 'Hummingbird' on that recording ended up doing the same role here in NYC and he was WONDERFUL!
A great show during a great time in my life. *tear*

yeah, i think it was the original Chicago cast on the recording, because the composer is from there i think. Now that i search my memory, i may have seen it first in Minneapolis and not Chicago. "Hummingbird" is great, and so is "Keepers of the Light." i played that for a Matthew Shepherd impromptu vigil, and it fit perfectly.

Sorry folks, I saw the original BANDWAGON in 1931. The best, most original and the classiest!

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, and lord knows, it gets blamed for kicking off the whole composer songbook musical genre, but Ain't Misbehavin' was a stunner. Saw the original cast early in the run at the Longacre (before the show was upgraded to the more desirable Plymouth Theatre) and it still strikes me as the best of its class.

Forbidden Broadway and Starting Here, Starting Now. I too like Ain't Misbehavin but feel the smaller more intimate shows best represent (for me) the term revue.

My favorite would be Ain't Misbehavin' (BTW, alterego, since when is a show with a cast of 5 considered big?). I also like And the World Goes 'Round and Forbidden Broadway.

How about Beehive? That was a lot of fun. Back to Bacharach wasn't half bad too. Two stinkos were Suds and Blame It On the Movies bothat the now defunct Criterion Center.
