Although it's not my favorite, I would say I most personally connect to The Sound of Music.

While I would definitely say that I have a connection to my favorite show, Hedwig, I think the show I have felt most connected to is If/Then - just the idea of starting every day over and the importance of choices really clicked with me.

I definitely have to agree with the idea of If/Then and starting over. Even though I didn't think that it was the greatest musical, many people that know were very moved it. I certainly connected with the idea and message that the musical was trying to send.

Interesting questions. Definitely not my fave - but I did feel a connection with Thoroughly Modern Millie - partly because i felt a connection to the movie which I saw first. A girl coming to NY to get ahead and be herself... and not just automatically jumping into what was expected from her...that said something to me.

The Visit absolutely, because I saw it on a day when I found out some horrible things that people in my community said behind my back. I totally felt was Claire was feeling!
Pretty much everything Bobby goes through in Company mirrors my own struggles and questions regarding marriage. Hence, why "Being Alive" makes mincemeat out of my emotions.
And though it's not a stage musical YET, and it's very cliche, Elsa's journey with her powers in Frozen speaks to my own acceptance and ultimate embrace of my ASD diagnosis.

20 years ago, RENT, was the most stirring time I'd spent in the theater. Within the previous year, we had lost perhaps a half dozen friends to AIDS, including our very best friend, and my husband's previous partner. "I'll Cover You" will still bring me to tears.
That said, I'm much more of a Sondheim fan. Rent was more personally meaningful to me, but Sondheim has more rewards over multiple listenings / viewings to me now.

West Side Story. It's a different type of connection than others are going for, but a high school production was my first live musical when I was three years old and one of my clearest earliest memories is of my mom playing her first pressing copy of the obc album. That sentimental connection is by far my strongest personal connection.

I feel most connected to Hedwig, but that is my fav, so I'll pick something else.
I think I have to go with Avenue Q. From the very first line, "What can you do with a BA in English," I knew this was the show for me. That line pretty much nailed it. I can identify with Kate Monster. "There's a fine fine line" is a lovely song that I can totally relate to. "I wish I could go back to college" is all too real. If you're in college now... First, I hate you. 
There is no way you can fully appreciate this time of your life til you hit your 30s and realize how amazing it really was. (I helped my niece move in to her college dorm and I was shocked that there were no dry erase boards on the doors. Apparently they just text now. I found that depressing.)

Oliver - first Broadway show for me. Also, Fagin is my dream role.
ACL - it came out when I was making decisions about how far to pursue theater.

I could think of a few different scenarios, but one of the most wonderful experiences I had with a show that I love but isn't my favorite ever is THE 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
When I saw the show, I had been through a very emotional time that I had difficulty dealing with and for whatever reason, the joy and creativity I saw in that show made me rebound and realize I needed to get focused and continue pursuing my goals.
