"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and "Sweeny Todd" are leaving. What two shows are coming into those theaters, please? Any info would be great! Thanks!
High Fidelity and Spring Awakening, respectively.

Search.

"Search Function: The Musical" is going in the Imperial.

"A Couple of Threads Down: One Poster's Journey Into Oblivious Bliss" is going into the Eugene O'Neill.

It's gonna be GREAT!

Thank you all for your help!
Ha, Patronus!
Patronus wins!
Lizzie, I think that is at least the 2nd time you've posted that same message on various threads! I'm close to making that my sig file. :)
A much better question (unless im out of the loop) is what is following Inishmore into the Lyceum?
Nothing has been announced for the Lyceum yet, however this was a blurb from Playbill's Theatre Week yesterday:

Of course, Curtains has to find a Broadway theatre first. There aren't many to choose from right now. High Fidelity seized the Imperial, home to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels until Sept. 3. The Lyceum will become free the same day — The Lieutenant of Inishmore announced this week it would close — but it rarely houses musicals. Still, it's early in the season. Wait and see.

Curtains is pretty large, and the Lyceum is too small for it. I imagine a play from one of the non-profits will find its way there. Keep your eyes on The Clean House at Lincoln Center or Regrets Only at MTC.
My bet is "Princesses" goes into the Lyceum.

		     			does PRINCESSES still exist?

i hope CURTAINS goes to the Lyceum...it could fit!, and then it could go to Broadway sooner, because with the new stunt casting in WEDDING SINGER, the show might be running a bit longer than expected....

I think CURTAINS needs a little more work before it reaches Broadway....and even the stunt casting in WEDDING SINGER won't keep it afloat when the tourists leave.

Well, you keep WINNING!

haha Patronus and Lizzie's posts just literally made me laugh out loud.

I guess you both win this time

So I've lurked on this thread for awhile, and now I (not so) proudly present...

"Search Function: The Musical"
inspired by Patronus

And now, ladies and gentlemen, a special preview...the title song from Search Function: The Musical.

[spoken dialogue]
Character 1:
I have a question
what do I do?
Character 2:
Ask it!
Character 1:
But...
Character 2:
But what?
Character 1:
I don't know if it's been asked before.
Character 2:
Well. I've got just the remedy for that!
Character 1:
You do, huh? What is this magical remedy, you say?
Character 2:
The Search function!
[music starts up]
Ever feelin' down? Obvious questions make you blue?
Well there, have I got the thing for you!
Type in what ya need, and voila, it's there!
All the answers you need, without the fare,
Read the threads, read the posts
What you need without the roast!

Search Wicked, search Rent,
make no thread, have no dread,
read what's already been said!

Character 1:
[spoken]
Search function, huh?
You sure I can't just start another thread?

Character 2:
Fine! Start another thread! Do what's been done.
But I'm tellin' ya, it ain't fun!
Enjoy the laughs, enjoy the ridicule.
Y'know some people (on here) can just be cruel!

So do us a favor, not meet your demise,
Use the Search function, and you'll be with the wise.

[spoken]
In closing, my friend, searches are what's good in life.
They make it simple.

[sung]
You'll find what you need in the search function,
You'll find it lickety spit,
You'll find it without the rejection,
and putting up with that S**t!

We have a new winner!
In defense of original poster, all you smarties - the Search Function is useful only if you can guess the right key words. Try searching "Vacant Theaters" and you'll come up with this thread only. "New Shows" yields one other relevant thread. We all phrase things differently - English is a big language. "Search" is not the universal answer, so give people a break, and add that verse to your song.

And now, Ladies And Gentlemen, my new interior monologue:

(Lights up at a person at his (her) computer)

"Hmmm...I wonder what's happening on Broadway World? What's this! Someone has posted a question that's been asked many times before. What to do, what to do...Well, the easiest thing to do would be to merely skip it. I mean, how hard is that, to ignore something I'm not interested in. But what's the fun in that? I know! I'll post a message about using the search function, to make me feel better about myself at someone elses expense. Maybe I'll even ruin someone's day. What could be sweeter?"

End of scene

catharsis - Really nice work. Here's the winner's button. :)

MissMommy - In this case, there were actually threads not more than 10 posts down that addressed the posters question. I understand that the search function isn't helpful 100% of the time, but reading the boards before posting a question isn't an unreasonable request.

leefowler - Ah, but how else will they learn? We have to fall in life and occasionally get trampled so that we can learn how to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off. It's the way of the world.
