What should I see? Please Help

I'm finally getting a chance to return to New York after a very uneventful school trip four years ago. My main reason for returning is to actually get a chance to enjoy Broadway. I know people have posted asking for advice for shows and I'm going to ask for some help another time. My trip is from Thurs, Oct,. 2nd - Sun., Oct. 5th. I want to see three to four shows while I'm there. I have already purchased tickets to see Equus on Saturday night (I'm thrilled to see Richard Griffiths - I love History Boys). I'm trying to figure out what other shows I should see. I've made a list of shows I think I would enjoy now if some of you could help me narrow down my list.

39 Steps
A Tale of Two Cities
All My Sons - still in previews and is Katie going to be worth it?
August Osage County
Billy Elliot - only concern is that it would have just begun previews
Gypsy
In the Heights
Young Frankenstein

Thank you for all the help in advance. Any other suggestions for shows or attractions when I'm not at a Broadway show would be helpful as well.
Mary Poppins
Spring Awakening

People might disagree with me on this, but the only thing from your list I think you can not miss is AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY.

In the Heights, if you can get tickets. It's upbeat, fun, beautiful, and a damn good musical that you can say you "saw when". Billy Elliot would be a good choice too...the show's already been perfected in London, so don't worry about previews. Gypsy would be a good idea if you're in the mood for something more traditional.

I'd put [title of show] on that list...

If both The 39 Steps and Boeing-Boeing are still playing at that time (I know Boeing-Boeing isn't on your list but still...) I'd say go see them! They are two of my favorite shows still running.

If not, Billy Elliot. Definitely Billy Elliot.

In The Heights, Gypsy, and Billy Elliot.

Random, but you know what surprises me? How many people that don't know anything about Broadway and want to see The Little Mermaid. I know maybe 3 people that wouldn't even be able to tell you who Elphaba is, that have seen The Little Mermaid on Bway. It is so...disgusting. lol.

I think you would strike a great balance with this:
Equus
Billy
August
Gypsy
A modern play and a modern musical, as well as two revivals.

I would add [title of show] and choose In The Heights and Gypsy. They're the only shows I've seen that really left me feeling like what I saw was once in a lifetime.

Definitely see Gypsy! You cannot miss this amazing production!

I also recommend The 39 Steps. Its a very hilarious show :)

Gypsy has a cast that cannot be missed - Laura, Boyd, and Patti all won Tonys, and you probably knew that.

I haven't seen August, but I don't think I've heard one negative thing about it.

You should definitely consider August and Gypsy.

I haven't seen 39 Steps yet, but it's on the top of my list of shows I'm seeing the next time I go to New York.

August was amazing when I saw it. I saw it simply because the friend I was with wanted to see it and thought that no play - no matter how good it was - could hold my attention for over 3 hours. I was very happy to be proven wrong.

I really enjoyed Gypsy as well and recommend it. It felt like the role had been written for Patti. And Laura's "Little Lamb" and 2nd act transformation into Gypsy Rose were also worth the price of admission.

I have not had a chance to see In the Heights (tried lotto a couple of time last I was in NYC, but sadly didn't win), but it is on the top of the list to see next time I'm there (along with Billy Elliot).

Now that sounds like a great show weekend. Do that!
