On another Gypsy/Tony note-
Call me crazy (which I am), but Benanti and Gaines are slam dunks already in Featured Actor and Actress. I don't know about director, actress and revival yet.
And she should do Rose's Turn. Bernadette won't care. Laurents, despite being a slightly prunish, nasty man, wouldn't do it to spite her, he'd just do it to showcase Patti, she'll get an ovation, possibly a Tony and it'll be good TV.

Whoever said the highlight of the show was Everything's Coming Up Roses, I actually agree. I would love for her to do that.
My other thought was also Together. Showcases all of them, etc. Some people would be thrilling. Really, it's hard to go wrong with songs from that show.

Of course the show will be nominated. Are there even enough revivals opening this year where one will be left out?
I'd also bet that all three leads will be nominated, as they were in the Bernadette/Mendes production.
And, just like that production, they'll opt to perform Rose's Turn on the broadcast, and Patti will knock it out of the park, and get a standing ovation, just like Peters did.
I'll reserve judgement on whether or not she'll win or lose the award until I've seen her performance, and Faith Prince's. Right, now, my choice would be Jenna Russell, but that could easily change.

It will be nominated. They want to fill out the category. It will surely get a nom over that amateur Grease.
I say Together, so Gaines and Benanti, who both are likely to get noms.

Benanti's and LuPone's nods are a given, and of course the show will get nominated.
I saw Russell on Sunday and I saw Patti in the summer, Patti has the edge in my book. Now let's wait for Prince's reviews and see if Roundabout is able to bring that PAL JOEY revival before the season is over.

Really, they can't go wrong with doing any number from Gypsy. Since this revival is titled "Patti LuPone Gypsy," I'm sure one of Rose's big number will be performed. I would especially love to see "Everything's Coming Up Roses," although I'd love to see "Together" or "Rose's Turn."

I like how there is the emphatic cry that Gypsy will of course be nominated becaue there are not enough shows to fill the category... then you leave GREASE out of the noms.
Tee Tony.. like it or not is all bout the $$ and what will make the touring producers lots of it on the road. LUPONESY will not tour.. nor make money in its brief Broadway run. Where as Grease is doing bang up business and headed out on the road.

Well the Tony voters aren't completely stupid. They're not going to put the worst show in, no matter how much money it makes. :)
No, I'm sure Grease will be nominated, and the performer's do a great job. I'm just not sure how well it'll stand up to Gypsy, Sunday, and South Pacific. My bet is that Grease won't win. I don't really see it having a chance.
