They should get all past and present Broadway divas to sing 'Rose's Turn,' alternating every line.

I think "Together Wherever We Go" would be great too.
I think so, as well. I would say that it was a highlight, but everything was a highlight in that show.

Posted: 2/17/08 at 4:22pmThing is the way they are advertising the show focusing on LuPone and not on the show, they are clearly gonna want to do a big Momma Rose number, whether it is the best way to sell the show or not remains to be seen. Last year, the GREY GARDENS crew made what in my eyes was a mistake, they let the show become too much about Christine Ebersole and so they had her perform a number that was completely inappropriate out of context. The songs from GYPSY are of course easier to perform outside the show and "Rose's Turn" is obviously a big showcase for a female actress, but I'm just not sure that it is the number that eventually translates into more tickets sales. "Together Wherever We Go" is fun, shows off the great chemistry between Benanti, LuPone and Gaines, and it may attract the tourists. I hope it is considered though LuPone may not want to do an ensemble number when all the other Roses have gotten their big solo turns.

I must say this has crossed my mind, too. She is probably going to do "Roses Turn". And I don't think it is an insult in any way to Bernadette, but perhaps the draw of it is diminished by having just seen one at the Tonys a few years ago. "Everything's Coming Up Roses" is a big possibility, I think.
That said, they are advertising this show as a chance to see Patti Lupone in Gypsy. So, the number will be a showcase for Patti. I'm betting "Roses" at this point.

Posted: 2/17/08 at 8:31pmI think it should depend on how is nominated, Patti & Boyd- Small World, All three- together, Patti- Rose's Turn or Some people, If none of them get nominated and the show does, They should do Gotta Get a Gimmick with Patti as Mazeppa, Boyd as Tessie, and Laura as Electra.
