What show (that you haven't yet seen) would you turn down a free ticket to?

I assume that most of the folks on the site are theatre freaks and geeks who would see almost any show if they were given a free ticket.
For me, it is almost universally true that I would see ANYTHING. But... there are a couple of shows that I haven't seen and don't want to see. I have actually lied and told people I have seen a couple of shows. It is a way to, politely, turn down a friend/relative who is excited to see a show and would pay for me to see, for instance Mamma Mia or Blue Man Group.
What show would you not see, that you haven't seen, even if you could see it for free?

Posted: 4/5/06 at 12:54pmWell if its a free ticket I prob would go to anything. You really don't know if you are going to like a show until you see it. I have gone into shows thinking I would hate it because of reviews, etc... but when I left I loved the show.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 1:02pmI actually paid for The Blonde in the Thunderbird and Hot Feet...and I don't regret it.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 1:45pmThough I doubt I would turn down a free ticket to anything, I would only attend Lestat if there was nothing else to do.

Altar Boyz may be the only show I'd ever turn tickets down to.
Oh, and Movin' Out.
If I wanna see a Ballet I'll go to the Bolshoi Theatre.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 2:20pmI probably wouldn't turn down a free ticket, either. But if it was REALLY bad, I'd walk out.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 2:55pmPossibly Jersey Boys. I know it's very popular, but having seen a synopsis, I don't think it's the type of music I'd enjoy.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 3:08pmMamma Mia. I have NO desire to see this show! I gave my comp seats here in Denver away and took 5 kids to see A Christmas Carol instead! I just can't sit through 2 hours of Abba. I admit, I do like some of their music (The song "The Visitors" rocks, and I own it) but I will never see the show! Everyone says I will like it and to give it a chance. In the words of Sophia in "The Color Purple"....Hell No!!! LOL

Posted: 4/5/06 at 3:17pmIf only "The Visitors" were in MAMA MIA... (Remember the long version, with the extended instrumental mix??? Great song, very atypical of Abba, however, no?)

Posted: 4/5/06 at 5:54pmThe ONLY show I would turn down free seats to would be RING OF FIRE.

I've seen Ring of Fire twice now (not paying full price by a long shot). The first time I did find it a bit long but enjoyed the talent in the show and was moved by some scenes.
I then went back and saw it with a friend with free tickets, and to be completely honest we love it now. We can't stop singing the songs or raving abour Lari White and Cass Morgan.
I would never turn down a free ticket without a legit excuse of conflict. People shouldn't be closed to seeing bad theater, or obscure theater for that matter. Without seeing shows like Lestat, how would one know how to compare a good show from a bad show? If you only see Piazza Piazza Piazza, you're going to have a very high set bar for other shows to live up to.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 6:03pmActually...I'd probably take the ticket to Hot Feet and skip Ring of Fire.
