I agree, the tone doesn't need to be so nasty- but the subject is a legit one. I have no ill will toward ALW but couldn't help but think something was wrong when looking at him on the broadcast. and bear in mind this was a pre-recorded event, so it was edited and we were seeing the best footage of him they could put together. that is truly worrisome, cuz he did not look well.
the Kennedy Center is a fine honor and the talent they put together was top-notch, but let's not forget how long he's been a success in so many different nations and how many honors he's garnered over the years. sure this is a major one, but I don't think it could be solely to blame for making him look so very unhealthy

Maybe the russian musical is haunting him.
Has a lyricist been announced, btw?

well if this is a case of concern from broadway world members, I'll apologize for calling you at.
He did have a nasty viral/medical condition a couple of years ago that did leave him looking a bit "unhealthy"...
The awkward reactions of him "mouthing" along to people singing I think is just his excitement and appreciation for the Kennedy Center Honor
And how nice is it to see that someone who has won oscars, grammy's and tony's still appreciates an honor when it's bestowed?????

Posted: 12/30/06 at 12:40amWhy do the "S"'s in "Tonys" and "Grammys" represent ownership, while the one in "Oscars" represents plural? I thought his only Oscar was for "You Must Love Me," on top of your grammatical error.

Josh is on there, which shows some of the ALW Jaw-business. And he does look surprised at the high note!
And a bunch of Jessica Simpson things. :/

The man was on national tv and something was visibly wrong. I don't know what is so wrong with the fact that we are talking about it. The thread did not get a nasty tone till chernjam tried to pass it off and make it sound like were evil for pointing out something that is so obvious.

hey dame, I am forever on your side and know exactly where your heart was. but people are sensitive and not all as jaded as some of us so I'm trying to be a little understanding. after all, it's what Jesus would have done. this topic is totally worth discussing and the fact that it can be discussed here is what has made this site so great over the years. inevitably most threads turn into bitching contests, but it's better than wasting that energy on crap like movies and pop music. so Webber might have a condition- that's interesting. everyone, deal with it please. if he doesn't have one, that will become apparent when we DO see him on TV not behaving like a muppet on dexedrine.

Thanks Matt. Also of note.. the editing during the show was dreadful. Half of Betty Buckleys number was gone. An what is up with Aretha Franklin... not good.

What a telling commentary that someone believes life's afflictions should be addressed, since one has money, by getting some "work" done.
I know things can get more superficial here, I just don't know how...yet.

Fine example of underhanded nasty tone. Etwat is a master.

Nothing underhanded about it. I thought I was pretty direct.
But then I was commenting on what someone posted, not on the appearence of an icon in musical theater. And what exactly is an etwat? Some feeble attempt at name calling?
Sad.
