I don't remember what show i first saw. my mom was really great and took me to see everything we could see in the sticks. But i grew up with fabulous barbra....i use to sing funny girl nonstop until i saw hello dolly...to this day....i still will never pass up a barbra movie....anyways i digress....my first broadway play was last year...rent, then aida for adam, and then christams carol in msg...that was all in a 36 hr time period...it was heaven!!!and i am going back this christmas to see adam again in cabaret...
but the show that made me love theatre as i do and that made me want to do theatre (background mind you) was Ragtime...i saw it 1998 i believe in toronto! i just listened to it a couple days ago and it still makes my heart pound!!!!

Posted: 11/9/03 at 11:09amMy mother took me to "Fiddler on The Roof". My father's cousin was in the production, and we got to go backstage after the show. I wish I remembered the experience better. Haven't ever been backstage again.

Aren't there any OLD people here?
The first Broadway show I saw was Grease (original production). I loved it, and have loved Broadway, and been hooked on live theater ever since.
Since I regret not seeing MORE theater when I was younger, I regularly take my daughter to NY to see shows, and have since she was 3. We also see Broadway touring companies in our area, and some regional and local productions.

"They're Playing Our Song"
Front row Orchestra, Imperial Theatre.
Donna Murphy was in the ensemble as one of the "egos."
The next night I saw the first preview of the revival of "West Side Story" with Debbie Allen as Anita at the Minskoff.

Hey, original production of "Fiddler" isn't old enough? ![]()
The original production of "Grease" was my second broadway experience.
I will now respond for my children, who are not allowed in Chat rooms. Their first show was "The Lion King" in previews (which they now barely remember). Then "The Music Man" several years later, and they have been going strong ever since.

Hi,

I have nver been to Broadway, but I POTO, Les Mis, CHICAGO (twice), Millie and Lion King in London. I saw all of them within a yr! I LOVE musicals and hope I could see Hairspray, Millie with Sutton Foster, Nine, CHICAGO on Broadway....

Hi,
I find a very fact amonst my friends at school. Most of their 1st musical they saw is either Joseph....Dreamcoat or Phantom.... Opera! Funny huh?! When I saw Joseph in 1997, the whole theatre was packed with children (including me)! Joseph is such a good show! I LOVE it so much, it made me fell in love with musicals too! But this recent production of Joseph in London with Stephen Gately and now Darren Day is SO disappointing! It's like a school production! I REALLY missed the Really Useful Group's Joseph production (not the video)!

You want old? My first was Angela Lansbury in "Gypsy" on the pre-Broadway tour. How damn lucky was that? I really started off at the top. I'm still not sure I've seen her equal. Yes, I accepted Angela Lansbury as my Personal Savior in the eighth row of the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City on June 5, 1974. Or was it 1975. Whatever.
My first Broadway, one hundred and fifty years later, was less glorious -- "Anything Goes" with the post-Lupone Leslie Uggams.
