Well, maybe after some intense therapy.
You should donate your sessions to him.
But I'm scarred, Jordan, oh, so scarred by his rapier wit and harsh judgement.
Question Broadway Guy? How old are you? 12? 13? Do you even have anything to compare this current revival to? Were you even alive when the last one was in NYC? Talk about credibility. I wouldn't go around trashing a show just to trash it knowing full well I have not seen the previous productions. What cave did you come from?
BroadwayGuy is around 17 years old. We've already figured that out.
So he was one years old when the last revival was on Bway? Yeah at that age you can totally remember exactly what happened in the last production that is the same about this production. Totally!

Trashing a show? Criticizing a show cause its not doing great is trashing it? The last revival was in 1997 so yes I was alive. The OP asked whats wrong with the show so I gave him/her my opinion. Accept it.
"It didn't have a new take on the piece."
So what piece or revival have you seen that this one did not deviate from? Again you were alive, but you weren't old enough to see the past productions of it so how can you claim it isn't different if you have not even seen the other productions to compare it to?
And just because you order food of a menu and the kitchen makes you something totally different doesn't mean you have to accept whatever they feel like giving you. You're the customer not the other way around. So no, thanks you can keep what you are selling to yourself.
Don't you have some goats to bother or some hobbits to eat?

Are you in the show or something? No one should get bent out of shape just cause some nobody on a message board said the revival is an uninspired production. Lilla's mom is that you?

I saw Annie back in December , I have to admit it was not a favorite of mine...I am glad I saw it, since I enjoy all times of theater due to the magic involved. Plus I love the music, its a classic for a reason.
However, my main problem with the show was I thought the girl who played Annie tried to hard to belt out of the songs and was a bit too over the top for me. I just was not impressed with the orphans, which is cruel to say, but that was my problem. But you have to give them credit for all the hard work, but I just didn't feel the emotion behind the songs.
The same time I also saw A Christmas Story and those kids put the Annie kids to shame.
Plus I dislike the woman who played Miss Hannigan, she just was not my cup of team. I wish I saw Jane do it after seeing the bit from the Tonys, she sounded amazing.
I love the music, the set, etc of the show though
At the end of the day, we all have personal choices and this is a classic and the sun will come out tomorrow :)
If you do see it, try for discount tickets...don't buy full price.
I would recommend the show to those who are not big theater fans, so they could get a taste of Broadway, would I see the show again??...no...but I am thankful for the chance to see it.
Thats my thoughts!

My god, he is so consistent at ruining perfectly normal threads. Although 95% of the board calls him out on his BS, he always seems to lash out on me the most. He has also admitted that he posts opinions on productions that he's never seen. So no surprise here.

No, What happened here is Someone didn't like My opinion on Annie and so they lashed out. If you can't take criticism then about a show than that really isn't my problem. For goodness sake the title is called "what was wrong with Annie". What did you think we were going to talk about. I didn't ruin anything. This thread was a goner from the start.
broadway guy, I don't think the complaints against you in this thread have much to do with your opinion, but rather your tendency to enter threads and attack respected posters, as you did with dramamama and TheLadyoftheWood. The OP asked for opinions and you gave yours while simultaneously dismissing everyone else's.

Sorry I was going to write something and hit clear screen.so EDIT Saw the original, saw this version. It is uninspired. I was bored. Hate the accents. the original Miss H. was boring. Still debating on whether or not I want to sit through it again to see Jane. those accents are HORRIBLE!

BG is kind of like that jerk who knows e light is against him, but he still walks in front of your car at an intersection, glaring at you the entire time, because he knows you will not run him down with your car.

I actually was going to be civil toward ladyofthewood but then i saw she/he asked me what cave i crawled out from which he was implying that i was a troll. Why should i respect someone's opinion if they don't respect me? He/she made it personal not me.

Oh and if you read the whole thread you will see that Dramamama attacked me first without me even saying one thing about her :
"So, Bway Guy, you chastise the board for trashing everything, then two posts later you trash it -- and with no specifics. Yes, the problem is "the board"."

Broadway Guy, You may have had an opinion, but how is it valid when comparing to past productions,Since you said you never actually saw the last revival or the latest national tour? I haven't seen this latest production, but I did see the last 30th anniversary national tour. I won't compare the two just yet, but it does seem to me that Lapine took a fresh approach to the show.

It's all subjective and I could be completely wrong about whats "wrong" with this show. Is there anything wrong at all? Thats up to the viewer. It seems to me from reading reviews and looking at clips and blah blah is that Nothing warranted a new revival. Revivals need to be fresh and have a different take on them if you want them to last long. Revivals Like Pippin clearly got the memo but it looks like Annie is just one of your Standard Productions of what we have seen over and over. Im not saying its exactly like the original or whatever ( i have never seen the original show) But what it does look like is just another High production value of the same old story we have heard since we were children. They should have been brave to venture out a bit and not just go with what we have seen. Maybe not even make Annie a red head or something idk but the show should have done something that made people say " wow i have never seen this ANNIE before" but i don't think thats the case.
