What will be the next big DISNEY musical

Score by Sting.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

God I hope not! I just picked Taymor because of what she could actually do with the dragon. For costumes I'd pick Susan Hilferty. Maybe Bob Crowley or Catherine Zuber.

Whatever happened to the Mary Zimmerman production of The Jungle Book that was in Boston? I thought that sounded intriguing.

Didn't Charles Strouse write an unproduced Star Wars musical in the 80s, which was killed by Lucasfilm? I would love to hear more of that score than "Han's Your Man," just for curiosity value.

I think Disney will likely pursue a Star Wars stage show at some point, but I don't know what composer I would put on the project. Star Wars, the original trilogy in particular, is "a story that sings" in an obvious way. The plot is relatively simple and linear, but contains obvious moments of emotional and story highs, the characters are archetypes with some individuating personality, and for being some of the original "big action movies," the big action sequences are primarily only one or two per film, with character melodrama driving the rest of the story.

When you look at it that way, the Star Wars Trilogy feels like Wagnerian opera more than anything else. For a story like that, and a franchise like that, you want a creative team that understands both the mainstream appeal and the grandiose, slightly elevated tone of the material. Perhaps the person for the job would be Disney alum Stephen Schwartz: he's devoted the second half of his career to mixing a big, Wagnerian-operatic sound with more traditional musical theatre.

Either the Disney - National Theater production of Pinnochio directed by John Tiffany, or Frozen. Pinnochio I have a feeling will be a overall more creative show but Frozen has brand name. I think they will both be hits but when it comes to the quality of the show and not just ticket sales, Frozen might surprise us.

You may have a point there. Realistically though it's probably going to be Frozen, which I did hear that the creative team behind it was aiming for 2018 as the first bow. But I could be wrong. I suggested Sleeping Beauty because of the fact that if the right script/book was written it could totally work....

Here's my full dream creative team for a potential production of Disney's Sleeping Beauty

Directed by Julie Taymor

Book by Douglas Carter Beane

Choreography by Matthew Bourne

Costume Design by Paloma Young

Set Design by Alexander Dodge

Dragon Puppet Design by Michael Curry

New Songs by Stephen Schwartz in addition to the old songs

Why have we not brought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yet? I know it isn't Disney but it has been in London how long?

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
