#1Whats coming in that will replace all these closing shows?
Posted: 6/22/12 at 4:36pmApologies if there is already a thread, Ive probably missed it. But with a lot of shows closing, and possibly more to come (I'm thinking Ghost and Memphis) some seemingly prime theatres will be empty, have replacements been lined up?

St James..A Christmas Story (November Opening unless Bring It On is in the millionaires club every week)
Al Hershfeld: Into the Woods
Booth: Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf
Lyceam: The Anarchist
Barrymore: Chaplin
Schoenfeld: Glengary Glen Ross
Broadhurst: Rebecca
Palace: Annie
Golden: The Heiress
THE AMMIE PROJECT will likely go into the Schubert or Lunt Fontanne ...I don't think it is big enough for the Broadway
I have a weird feeling Matilda is going into the Broadway come spring because I don't think the whole Mamma Mia, Chicago switcharoo's going to work out...
Id also guess the Exorcist is trying to get Kerr
The Tom Hanks play will likly go into the Cort like every other star driven production recently (Fences, A View from the Bridge, Your Welcome America, Born Yesterday)

Posted: 6/22/12 at 10:20pmI reckon Kinky Boots and Diner will come in the Spring, Matilda is too small for the Broadway so I'm thinking it'll go to the Shubert or the Winter Garden with Mamma Mia! either staying put or moving to the Shubert rather than the Ambassador.

Supposidly word on the street, i heard this from the doorman at the Imperial is that Matilda is taking the Winter Garden, forcing Mamma Mia into the Ambassador, and Chicago into the Booth.
*forgot about the Rogers...which would be a great fit for Cinderella...not to small, not to big...and great sightlines.

Mamma Mia! is still doing good business, it seems odd that they'd want to move it to the Ambassador.
I reckon Kinky Boots, if the tryout in Chicago goes well will transfer to the Shubert or the Lunt.

Posted: 6/23/12 at 12:45amThere is also an article on this website about the Guthrie production of Roman Holiday wanting to transfer, and the article says that there is interest from the Nederlanders, and that they would want a mid-size theater. The Minnesota production ends in August.

Posted: 6/23/12 at 10:37amThey can't force Mamma Mia into anything. They have a contract. (Unless of coursse they are failing to make their nut.)
